Didn't we basically invent rail travel in the UK? What a debacle our rail network has become! I live 180 miles from Norwich as the crow flies and bizarrely have a direct rail route there. Only issue is it takes 5hrs30mins... what's that, an average of 30mph or something? Maybe they're using Stephenson's Rocket on the route. |

Very comfortable win coming our way. They are very fragile and we will fill our boots - I expect us to score at least 3 today and Kone ending his dry run too. I reckon tonight we will have the highest league position we've had since Beale briefly had us top a couple of years ago. |
 | Forum Reply | Sam Field at 09:56 29 Nov 2025
All criticism of Sammy in THIS thread are a response to OP suggesting Field is a longterm solution to our LB problem. He clearly isn't and it's reasonable to pick holes in his performance to back up that view. If the thread was themed "Field's doing okay-ish filling in at LB" I guess most would agree and point out some of his good work (as opposed to highlighting weaker areas). My big worry is we shunted Jimmy out to RB 18 months ago despite him obviously being a CB and then inexplicably left him there permanently. I really don't want to see a similar thing happening to Field on the other side of the defence. The club urgently needs some proper experienced fullbacks in the squad - not players "filling in". On that note... it's early days but I feel Mbengue is a much better RB than CB. His speed and athleticism seem more useful out there. Him out there and Jimmy in the middle looks much more solid I think. |
 | Forum Reply | Dembele improvement at 13:36 27 Nov 2025
Yes, he seems a bit more dialed-in and consistent lately. I wish our three midgets could develop some sort of partnership/connection/understanding. If they could all get on the same wavelength, Dembele, Saito and Chair could really stretch and test defences but currently they seem to operate as "sole traders" making individual moves and attacks. Maybe the familiarity will come if JS remains patient and gives them plenty of minutes as a trio on the pitch. |
 | Forum Reply | Sam Field at 13:30 27 Nov 2025
Sorry, but Sammy is a pretty ropy leftback. He failed to execute at least three simple passes last night that put us under pressure. He gave the ball away cheaply that then led to the Hamer injury. He provided barely any forward impetus which meant Chair was largely unsupported and got continually kettled towards the Rovers tight congested backline. He is an emergency stop-gap option at best. Beyond that I feel he's been strangely off-the-pace for about a year. Cannot question his commitment and he will get tackles in and his height is useful when defending set pieces. But ultimately we need RND back cos he's far more secure, accomplished and progressive. |

Surprisingly mild and dry. I overdid the winter wear and broke out the longjohns too. Still, 3pts and some Betty Swollocks is a good night out I think. |

They're useless at home. Ewood Park is a morgue. Their "real" crowds dip below 8000 for midweek games and most of those only turn up to moan and boo. We should be going there with the intent of getting after them - they think we are a bunch of soft Southern wusses (they are probably right) so will be complacent. We CAN give them a right thumping IF we are mentally strong and resolved to fight for every minute of the game. |

With today's pitches and equipment, modern sports science and nutritional expertise the busy fixture schedule should not be an issue at all. I can't keep up with how many subs can come on either - we have a reasonably decent matchday 16 so there's nothing to moan or worry about. No wonder club keeps faltering every time it builds a bit of momentum - too many whiny folks thinking like losers. This week is an opportunity to help ourselves to 9pts so go out there and get them! |

I quite like Hull and how they bump along. They prove that its possible to do okay against a backdrop of embargos, managerial merrygorounds, deranged owners, loadsa players in and out... Good for them I say! Modern football is too eager to trot out excuses for poor results and under-performance, always seeking to set the bar low due to extenuating circumstances or blame someone/something else. Hull are proving that a decent manager and good honest pros CAN shut out all the noise and get on with the game. I think a lot of clubs should take note of this (including one close to our hearts....). |

Very sad. Obviously I get how this resonates with the Stone Roses but my personal memory of Mani is much deeper via Primal Scream. Saw them live with him on bass a few times and Vanishing Point is in my top 10 fave albums. His wife died two years back and he leaves 12 yr old twin boys behind too, absolutely dreadful for them. |

Imagine having a lovely new stadium with huge concourses with lots of food and beverage offerings and maybe even benches to perch on! Outside, a big fanzone thing with beer and burger trucks, a big screen and stage as well. I'd happily head there early and tuck-in and wouldnt begrudge dropping £30ish on some beers and burgers if lion's share of that went to the club. |

JCS coming back just as Arctic temperatures sweep in sounds very unlikely to me. I reckon holding out until March would be more sensible and less likely to result in something else of his snapping, popplng or twanging. |

Surely these pre-budget "nuclear" tax and money raising options are purely to make the actual budget seem relatively benign? Threaten to stab people in the eye beforehand but only kick them in the goolies come the day and they'll shrug and say "phew, that's a relief". |

Isn't this what was known as "Guilty Pleasures"? As ever with threads like this, the gist of the question goes over some people's heads and they decide to flex their outre credentials by naming obscure artists instead. It needs to be popular well-known stuff where folks say "WTF!? You like them/that???? and NOT "Eh, never heard them/their output". I think Glenn Cambell would be mine. |

In one of our TV games a month or so back the cameras panned to our director's box. Nourry was sat so low/slumped in his seat he looked like a brat in detention. His general demeanour/look was really slovenly and shabby looking - I was quite shocked frankly. Basically, I cant see how Nourry could demand "professionalism" from anyone really. |

Well they're on general sale now. TBH, I'm unclear why OP was expecting a stampede for tickets - irrespective of transport woes we were never gonna 2000+ for this. |
 | Forum Reply | Draws That Felt Like Wins at 21:19 10 Nov 2025
I dunno, we went there 1-0 up from first leg so knew a draw would do. Basically it was a win really, we won the tie on agg. I saw most of the games on this list but can only remember the 2-2 at Derby. That was the first time I ever heard the chant that sounds like "2-0 and you mucked it up" - still makes me chuckle. |

Yes. Trouble is, Remembrance Sunday came about as a quieter and easier day for things to stop at 11am in comparison to say, Tuesday 11th. Then you get sporting events doing it at any random point they feel like, eg Leeds 2 weeks ago. So, the whole thing gets spread a bit thin. |
 | Forum Reply | The last post and silence at 20:19 7 Nov 2025
Pretty sure Leeds did their remembrance two weeks ago tonight against West Ham (its 7th tonight). I did think it a bit odd doing it nigh on 3 weeks before 11/11 in mid'ish October but I suppose it was a quirk of the fixture list. Wonder how many times Leeds and West Ham players will do the minute's respect over this period - could well be three times I suppose. |
