I think Critchley was dealt a bit of a poor hand to be fair Had a half decent track record but the players seemingly downed tools for him especially after he quite rightly slammed them after a couple of very poor performances Ainsworth wanted to do well here, we wanted him to do well here but it didn’t happen and he left a bit of a mess (not all of his own making) Marti from the moment he has come in has inspired a bit of confidence I really hope we stay up and he gives it a season to see what he can do looking at his record elsewhere he has left clubs he has managed in a better position than when he took them over if we have a good season next year and a bigger job comes up for him then although disappointing we have to get the recruitment right to replace Marsh leaves replaced by Stan not a problem Les leaves replaced by Hateley, unmitigated disaster If people come to QPR and go to bigger things that’s good as it means we are doing well it’s the recruitment piece that remains the key [Post edited 4 Mar 10:16]

The lot from SW6 might not be in breach right now but they have come forward (painted into a corner and had to do something) and have indicated they may have a couple of skeletons in the closet (it’ll be a cemetery) but they have offered this up as it was under the old regime and they want to be helpful They are up to their neck in it |

Stan was before my time but I have seen the footage and have been told stories by others about just how good he was Many great tributes on here from those that were lucky enough to see him For me if you look at other clubs message boards many fans are saying what a genius he was and how he was their favourite “other team” player, that is a huge tribute. They all wanted a swashbuckling maverick who could get you off your seat and play to the gallery, but lucky for us for the prime of his career he was ours My mates Dad loved Stan, he would’ve been late teens nearly 20 during 75/76 and Stan was his hero. Anyway sometime early mid 90’s we were walking to the game and Stan was walking along my mates dad ran like Usain Bolt to meet his hero and someone happened to have a camera so he managed to get a pic of him and the great man smiling together he was walking on air all the way home. So a few weeks later I go round my mates house and walk into the front room now ever since I had known him on top of the Telly was a pic from his Mum and Dads wedding day and pic of him and his two brothers Not anymore his dad had got the picture framed and replaced the pictures of his wedding day to his wife of now nearly 50 years and his 3 son and heirs The man was adored by many and will be missed, but not forgotten Go well Stan the Man |

Not always the case 20 odd years ago I bumped into Andy Thomson in TOTS nightclub in Southend He still had a house that way as he was at Southend a couple of years before and I grew up there. Was having a chat on a Saturday bought him a beer he bought me one and were chatting things QPR He told me he was off to Hull. He had a back problem and the 1.5-2 hour drive there and back to Heston every day was a killer and his Mrs wanted to go back up North Used to post on Dot org and there was a post about players etc and someone said Thomson should be back in and I replied saying he won’t be around for long probably by the weekend as a naive 20 year old I just offered up what I knew Some absolute helmet called SussexR’s tore me to pieces saying I was a liar and knew naff all Thomson failed the medical and the deal fell through Now older and wiser I wouldn’t post it but sometimes it is legit |

Gary Bannister over rated behave! If we were in the Prem now and his was banging in goals like he did then he would be £40/50 million quid and would get England caps Can’t agree on Parejo either he was so far ahead of what we had was 18 years old in a foreign country you could tell he was very good but the other players weren’t on his wave length My offering is Nedum Onuoha. Loved by many on here but for me picked up a lot of money while here and was middling to average in my opinion. Was super quick, built like a Cruiser weight boxer but was weak as, a lot of the time. His first touch was terrible and played a huge part in getting us down to 10 men in the play off final Comes across as a decent guy and quite intelligent but I didn’t see what some did |

Would echo that the food van in the lower loft isn’t too bad But £6.75 for a pint of Carlsberg is daylight robbery The concessions on the concourse are quite frankly a disgrace I went to the Etihad over Christmas got a burger (proper burger) a pie (not a pukka pre heated one) and a pint of Asahi for about £14 quid and served within 3-4 mins Our offering is sh!t |

Ji Sung Park for me Always thought he was good at Man U when we signed him I thought he would be great for us Saw him first match “Ah sh!t his legs have gone” Did very little Moral of the story never ever return their call when they offer you a player Culkin, Macheda,Ferdinand etc |

All about opinions but I thought Parejo was so far ahead of some the players we had at the time even at 18/19 whatever he was at the time He’d play a great ball but the other players weren’t on his wavelength Could clearly see he was a good player and the career he’s had suggests that |

Steve Palmer Was the first ‘Captain’ we had since Macca Wasn’t flashy never injured and was hugely important under Holloway for turning it round and getting back to the Championship Got dogs abuse when playing in Midfield but was versatile dependable and came over as a decent bloke I liked him |

Good luck with it mate If it is a bit cold and all that there’s a room for kids in the lower loft where they can do drawings and other such stuff If you have the Lower Lift stairs in front of you hang a left and it’s just down there Hopefully new manager bounce and 3 points for the little man 👍 |

How old is the little un mate I was toying with the idea of taking my boy when he was about 3 and a couple of my mates advised not bothering they’d taken theirs to games around that age and ended up leaving by half time for multiple reasons cold, too noisy , bored etc My boy is 8 and has been going for a 2/3 seasons now I took him to Southend first as that’s where we live and it gave him an idea of what going to football was like. Took him there against Wrexham just after they’d been bought was in the August so good weather etc he did pretty well only asked when we were going home with about 10 mins to go His first Rangers game was a couple of year ago against Hull and he cried when we equalized as the noise was too much only for a minute or so and he’s been fine ever since It’s great taking them to their first game and is a proper proud dad moment |
| Forum Reply | It's Warnock... at 23:14 28 Oct 2023
I’d take Warnock back all day long We are in the sh!t and we need a proven manager who can get a tune out of a rabble He has done this in recent seasons at Rotherham and Huddersfield Is it long term strategy no of course it isn’t but this might be an appointment that allows us to have some time to work that out so come the summer which ever division we are in we can then start to plan accordingly Come on Sharon let him of the leash, muck and nettles and all that, he’s under you feet replying to the emails. You know it makes sense |

What line of work are you in? I work in recruitment and things are fairly quiet pretty much everywhere for a multitude of reasons If you’re looking for something quick to keep some cash coming in until something more permanent comes up the main companies recruiting at the moment will be Royal Mail , Supermarkets etc for the run up to Christmas Might be worth a shout Good luck to you mate |

I agree past the first 11 the squad is thin The point I’m trying to make is that I don’t think the players ability is the whole issue Squads of 98/99 and 2000/2001 had some far worse players My main thing is that the atmosphere, attitude, application and planning are shot to sh!t Far bigger issues than the players all being pony it’s far more deep rooted unfortunately |
