Tylon Smith makes senior squad for South Africa at AFCON
at 19:21 1 Dec 2025

Congrats to the lad, people clearly rate him. But he’ll be 21 soon and Plymouth aside, has not played a single men’s first-team game anywhere. A massive ask to jump straight into international football. When back, would really like to see him in and around our 1st team (if good enough), or out on loan getting proper experience.

Eastward Ho ! Match Fred
at 15:55 29 Nov 2025

I was genuinely surprised when I saw that line-up, the exact same XI that played 90 minutes weds, got back home early hours Thurs, and back on the road again Fri. That was really the strongest option we had to put out there?

Not won in 13 you say? Hold my beer..

Football - lost its sparkle?

Totally get that and have been thinking the same for a while now.

The PL/CL have turned into an overly commercialised hype machine paying out ludicrous wages, and for what? Another rendition of Everton vs Tottenham. Oh yes please, hype it up some more. They’ve only played each other 50+ times since I left school, with probably another x20 coming in the next ten years. Give me another.

And so in May Liverpool win the PL, time of their lives, champions of England, dreams come true… but don’t enjoy it for too long lads. We start again in August and it’s all forgotten. Wheels gotta keep turning. You’ll be booing them off and sacking the manager by Nov.

Most teams have zero identity now anyway, just random players there for cash with no affinity to the club or fans. Just for fun I looked up Wolves’ last lineup: back 5 of Tchatchoua, Agbadou, Krejcí, Toti Gomes and Møller Wolfe. Not a clue. I bet they can’t wait to finish a tough week’s work to pay £51 to see the new lad from Hellas Verona on £65k a week, who’ll down tools by March when his agent starts pimping him out to anyone not in a relegation scrap.

I think age has something to do with it haha

Anyway enough of that, QPR tonight. Come on you R’s.

If You Can't Talk Proppa - Learning New Languages
at 19:50 25 Nov 2025

Happy to share what actually worked for me. If you’re gonna do it, go all in.

Pimsleur:
Pick your language and just run through the full course, consistently. Ideally 30mins a day. Eg: Portuguese has 5 levels, 30 lessons each, 30 mins per lesson. Over 70 hours total.
It’s all listening + speaking with repetition. Yes it can get boring and repetitive, but the brain absorbs. No grammar books, kids learn through ears and mouth first.
If you stick with it, even after Level 1 you’ll already be forming sentences. It teaches the most common, high-frequency verbs you actually need.

Preply / Italki:
When you’re comfortable, move into conversations with a native. Doesn’t need to be a pro grammar-heavy teacher (boring), almost any native will do here. By that point you’ve already absorbed the basics and you just need real convo reps to build confidence.

Books:
Get easy-reader books for learners (1000/1500-word vocab). They’re perfect because by now you know most of the core words, and it feels unreal being able to read an actual book in your new language.

Films:
Watch movies with subtitles in your target language. It’s basically like reading a book but way easier, and you’ll pick up tons of vocab casually.

Final Step:
Get a girlfriend who speaks the language / or go stay in some random small town where no one speaks English! Forced immersion works every time..

That injury at Portsmouth was a real sliding-doors moment for both of us. We had the best striker in the league at the time and still a strong side capable of pushing for a quick return. Knocked the stuffing out of us and we slid down over the yrs, Kev was never really the same again, even though he was pivotal in that classic 00s team that dragged us back up.

And honestly, in the 30 years since his debut, we haven’t actually produced a better player. Produced, not like Eze or Chair.

Indeed, and at HT we were bang in it showing good intensity. Within 90 secs we're 1-2 down and chasing it leading to 1-3, so poor decisions cost us against an expensivly assembled side.
We were not rolled over in the traditional sense of the word.

x2 direct (saveablve) Fks
x2 poor bits of defending from the young lad.

Goals at bad times, it happens. On another day we're still in the game and pushing for an equaliser / winner. It's fustrating, but not a 1-4 like we've seen many times before..

Forget it and move on to midweek game, with one eye on plugging the GK/LB leak.

Quite enjoying it even though we're lacking quality and composure in final 3rd. We're aggressive and look fit, that bit of magic off the bench might swing it for us.

Its like a boxing match where we're well ahead on points and our opponent has a broken hand.

We should knock them out any moment, but he's still in there come the 12th and he's swinging..

Another Prick in the Wall - kitty litter edition QPR vs Millwall match thread.
at 15:11 18 Oct 2025

Taking some positives, we looked fit and sharp throughout (a stark contrast to earlier in the season) and as mentioned above, dominated territory without that bit of guile to create more clear-cut chances. We were aggressive and in most areas, outbattled a Millwall team who scored two poorly defended Sunday League goals and that was it. It happens.

A Madsen/Morgan midfield of progressive passers could be interesting (depending on the game scenario).

Just one of Frey or Kone, please.
