Players who feel like they played for QPR but didn’t
at 02:31 5 Jan 2021

I can’t quite work out if this thread is about players who we think as fans have played for us but haven’t [ keogh/ pollock or Evans/Ambrose or / Mimms/Davies] or players that have actually played for us but either us or they would rather forget! The list for the latter is waaaaaay too long to even consider listing!

Improved QPR within whisker of shocking Norwich - Report
at 13:55 31 Dec 2020

I’ve been on here ten years now yet haven’t posted anything for most of that time despite visiting everyday. However, I’ve decided to make the monumental effort on this occasion to join in the praise! Like others have said Clive, your match reports are an excellent read. Always a combination of analysis, information and humour which always makes for a very entertaining read. This has been even more valuable this year of all years.
I’ve seen you around the ground many times but have never said hello, next time, I’ll shake your hand, if we’re allowed! Thanks for all your hard work over the years.

Rare QPR pic from 1992 - name the players
at 00:27 23 Jan 2015

For any of us born in the 70s that era was what made it for us, the early eighties FA Cup then promotion team maybe too early to fully remember but the Olly/Willo/Barker/Sinton team with Les, Penrice and so many more with Macca as the constant....that's why I still love our club despite all the the recent Boo Lax. U Rrrrrsss!

Team for Norwich
at 14:39 1 Feb 2013

The following isn't a criticism but an observation. Lets just say all 6 signings were to start tomorrow (I know, but for comparisons sake....) it would mean we've brought in:

Yun Young for Traore, Samba for Nelsen, Ben Haim for Hill, Townsend for SWP, Jenas for Faurlin and Remy for Cisse. How would you rate the improvement?

The squad is stronger which was what Harry's overall aim was but the first team? Marginally. I think we will stay up though due to the recent spirit we have shown and the obvious overall improvement that has been evident since Harry arrived. I would start

Cesar
Onuha, Samba, Hill, Traore
Fabio, Mbia. Derry, Taarabt
Zamora, Remy.

Subs: Green, Yun-Young, Granero, Campbell, Mackie, Ben Haim, Bothroyd.

The simple thing about Hill that makes him so appealing to the normal bloke in the street is that he himself is a normal bloke. I've never met him but from watching how he conducts himself on and off the pitch he is someone I can relate to and as supporters that's what we want as much as anything else, it's something for us to cling to amongst all the BS and EPL hyperbole nonsense.

Preston was a magical night, about 11000 there, Blackstock thumped home at the school end, Cullip was superb that night.

Good to hear the Harry Redknapp Blue and White Army chants already, down to us all to follow that up and more on Saturday. Renewed optimism now.

Much improved performances tonight and Saturday and as Redknapp astutely said un the post match interview he hopes us the fans will do our bit v Villa and beyond, up for it?!

Rednapp at OT tomorrow
at 12:52 23 Nov 2012

We get rid, allow to go, sell or loan out whoever it is that Redknapp doesn't want. We will obviously lose out financially but the point i'm making is that any new manager will expect, and rightly so, to be able to bring in 3 or 4 new players and to accommodate that we need to look to elbow at least the same number and suffer the cost. I'd be very surprised if we don't get a single offer from anyone for the likes of SWP, Bosw, Ferd, Green and others in Jan, whatever it is take it.

Could Di Matteo be in the running for manager?
at 12:11 23 Nov 2012

It's Redknapp for certain but give Di Matteo some credit. People seem to think he managed Chelsea for two games last season, the FA Cup final and the Champions League final. He did manage them through the rounds to get to the finals and he took over when Chelsea were rocking and won two trophies. Chelsea this week have once again shown themselves to be the mugs they most definitely are, a moment of light relief in an otherwise difficult week for us.

Mate, I just posted the following on another thread.....we can get rid of players in Jan as well as bring them in! There may be an overall net loss come 31st Jan but it won't all be expenditure.

He's gone!
at 12:03 23 Nov 2012

It had to happen and I think given our boards overall expectations and strategy, Redknapp is the only option out there. They want us to stay up for all the obvious reasons and are prepared to take the financial gamble with Redknapp to keep us up. There are 26 games left and the last time i looked through my fingers we were only 5 points from safety. Not beyond salvation.

All the fear on here about mass spending on players in January...............people do realise we can sell/ loan out players too right! Come January Redknapp will of worked out who's worth keeping and who's taking the pss and elbow the leeches to create room for his choices. Yeah, we may lose a bit on fees and have to pay towards some wages but not a complete financial nightmare. Think, if he gets rid of the worse four ( SWP, Boswinga, Ferdinand and Green-badly treated but £50k p/w?!) and brings in four replacements our net loss won't be suicidal and our chances of staying up will be vastly improved.

I would rather Faurlin over SWP but aside from that my only criticism of yesterdays performance was that Taarabt was not far enough forward. Another 10-15yards up playing directly off Zamora and Hoilett would of caused them far more problems. Otherwise, what more do you want? Certainly no lack of effort.

I agree with you Dave the only caveat though is that this is a different club to the one three years+ ago so the levels of expectations have changed. Of course it'll always be QPR but in general fans have been swept along with all the transfer spending and dazzled by the bright lights of the Premier League so are either unwilling or unable to put things into context. It's about the here and now not the bigger picture. I think we are all simply frustrated that we are not doing as well as we should be given the players that we have and no one can quite put their finger on why that is. I'm no fan of Hughes but like many others I say give it until early December v Villa and if results have not markedly improved I think we have to replace him to stay up. My absolute preference would be for the results to improve with Hughes as we just don't need the instability that such a change brings but that is obviously preferable to being relegated.

One final thing though, despite a lot of negativity on this board, I think the crowd have been very patient at games. We are bottom, making silly mistakes and yet to win this season yet no anti-Hughes chants, that reflects that the majority of fans are understanding and appreciative of where we've come from.
