Next season - 4 key players for us to keep
at 07:42 25 Apr 2024

Seems fair. I try to think "would our players get in a decent championship teams starting lineup?" For our attack it's a universal no. Dykes definitely not, Chair and Willock maybe but one's almost certainly off and the other has a court case over his head.

The only player I think would make it as a yes would be JCS, so he'd be hardest to replace but possibly bring in the most money to rebuild. As you say his injury record suggests that taking the risk on keeping him could be rewarded with only a handful of appearances if they recur, so after his first good season of appearances might be a good time to cash in.

Thank you Marti Cifuentes.

The reality is that if we can get money for Chair, we probably should take it all things considered. The whole court case thing may prevent us from getting offers though. Willock will be a free transfer and probably get a lot more money elsewhere, so imagine he's definitely gone.

They're both amongst our best players but there are other options out there and with Marti involved I'd be optimistic that he can find decent replacements if either ends up leaving.

Shock as Gavin Ward doesn't have a terrible game
at 10:27 21 Apr 2024

Trying to book a Stoke player, wave him over to talk 4 or 5 times then after he's ignored you, you go to him. Shows you how much the players respect him.

Thought he let too much go in the first half for him to then give Colback a booking for dissent showed how contrary he is as an official.

Keeper for next year
at 10:53 12 Apr 2024

If Walsh and Salamon aren't ready then really we need to bring in 2 goalkeepers. I think the problem for too long has been that we only realistically have one choice in goal. It's been true this season as the risk of starting Walsh means we stick with an ever waning Begovic. Or last season when Diengs form dipped and we had to play him because the back up was Archer. Competition would be a good start.

Begovic

I wasn't blaming him for a lack of goal threat, I thought it was fairly obvious I thought Seny would have saved both shots.

I did notice that Seny didn't punt the ball into the stands quite so often, so perhaps he would have helped the team create more chances.

Like I said, it's not Begovic fault. I think he tries his best but there's a reason one player moved for a fee last summer and the other was looking at setting up a goalkeeping school in readiness for life after professional football.

Begovic

I thought he was the difference Saturday, I appreciate that Middlesbrough had a strong centre back pairing and a strong centre midfield, but even with that Begovic was the difference, and not for the first time this season.

It's concerning, given our position that the he's unreliable and a weak link in a critical position.

The only real defence of him is that he is perhaps the best we could get at the time. It's also fair to say it's not his fault that at his stage in his career he's been employed as the only GK at the club realistically in line for a starting position.

Sheffield Wednesday didn't have an easy time against them either.

The championship always seems to have a side that's cut adrift at the bottom/already relegated that just starts wining matches for seemingly no reason at all. So I wouldn't be surprised if Rotherham cause some upsets before the end of the season.

Baggies Or Not Baggies... QPR Vs WBA Match Thread
at 13:07 7 Mar 2024

In that case you'll know why he stopped us (Frey) taking a quick throw in while WBA were trying to regain shape? Seems a lot of us can't understand why we weren't allowed to take it quickly if we wanted too. He was more than happy for WBA to time waste and take throw in's from where ever they wanted but we take a quick throw in and everything needs to be stopped so WBA can get back and organised.

I also think that the TV angle from SAR gantry wasn't the best view of the handball because it's behind the flight of the ball, so depth perception is harder and the movement of the ball seems to be when the goalkeeper gets his hand to it rather than Kipre's hand. The view that cleared it up seemed to be the angle from the School End, it became clearer which should be a similar view to what the ref had. Appreciate Kipre did well to hide it the cheating git.

What about the disallowed goal, should have been disallowed for offside but the ref appeared to give it for a dangerous challenge because the defender threw himself at the floor. I also thought he gave a lot of soft fouls to WBA for any kind of challenge when we were attacking especially at set-pieces. This was just another decision in favor of WBA that happened to be tempered by the fact a QPR player happened to be offside as well.

Does This Ref Get The First Ever Zero Rating From Clive .
at 12:51 7 Mar 2024

I thought he was stopping Frey because it was a WBA throw but he then still gave us the throw in. Bizarre.

There was another throw-in related sign he'd lost control just before when a WBA player was going to take a throw. The player with the ball in his hands then dropped the ball and a different player picked a ball up off the cone and took the throw in 10m down the field for no apparent reason other than to steal some yards. Ref absolutely oblivious to being mugged off despite the fans and players pointing it out to him.

FFP result with finances out.

"Also not selling Chair this month when we could have suggests we are going to meet P&S again so we probably aren't fcked."

That could also be a gamble, two options were:

Sell Chair, likely get relegated to League 1 - FFP doesn't matter.

Keep Chair, 50/50 we get relegated but if we do stay up old costs roll off and we can invest in the squad over the summer to get a 10 point buffer for this time next season.

The club has been known to like a gamble so I wouldn't put it past them.

Watching those two in particular I couldn't help but thank of Warburton and his look after the ball mantra. Stop giving the ball away so easy and letting them off the hook. Absolute jokes the pair of them.

So, according to CEO Nourry

I assume it will partly reduce speculation from random click bait stories as they won't be able to lazily gather a list of names and make up stories about them.

But I get the impression it's often put about by agents to manufacture a move so I guess if we're still in negotiations and stories start appearing, the club can be more certain it's been leaked by the players agent?

Richard’s awol ?
at 21:11 1 Feb 2024

To be clear I'm not having a go at Unc's, my point is that as a QPR player and I assume a member of the PFA he's clearly upset that his colleague is getting away with just not turning up. But if the club were to terminate Richard's contract supposedly the PFA would object to protect Richards despite it having a negative effect on the other players who are also under their umbrella. Makes no sense to me.

Richard’s awol ?

I've seen it mentioned that the PFA wouldn't allow a club to terminate a players contract even under these circumstances but I'd like to understand why. I get that they're there to support and represent the players but what about the rest of the squad? It's clearly an issue for Unc's and probably others so why is he/they less important than Richards to the PFA?
