Begrudging respect to Second Tier podcast
at 14:04 28 Nov 2025

They are Derby fans, but I like those two. They're a good laugh and it's fun to listen to after and before a weekend of football (obviously only if we've won).

They did a good video on Jordan Ibe this week. What a downfall that is.

Birmingham City are saying that you'll be able to see this new ground from the Cotswolds. But as Alan Partridge says, they haven't explained why you'd want to.

Overreactions to wins and losses
at 13:37 6 Nov 2025

I largely agree with what you're saying and I am one of those who gets down after a run of defeats.

One reason is, Preston, Hull, Charlton and Stoke shouldn't be top 6 teams either but they seem to be coping way better than we are. There's no reason why we can't be closer to these teams but we seem to have this fragile mentality where we just fall away and we go into games just knowing what the outcome will be.

The table at the end of the season may clear that argument up though.

They Couldn't Wait Until Wednesday 10pm To Sack Him - QPR Vs Southampton Thread
at 22:25 5 Nov 2025

Anyone else tonight feel more fed up with QPR than they have in years? That's the way I feel. Strange because about 5 weeks ago I was the most excited I'd been in years.

Something about that Derby game. Watching that there was something suddenly not right. At least it knocked my confidence in the team massively.

Maybe I'll feel better in the morning.

Is the FA Cup 3rd round what the Go Out stand is named after? Has that joke already been done?

Ipswich Reflection

He did mention in his interview with Charlie Austin that he realised after a few Championship games and training that he needed to get fitter.

He does look literally heavy and lacking in pace at times, so it doesn't seem to have happened.

Interesting question to currently ask is who's been the better signing, Kone or Burrell?

Has anybody else noticed that a Geordie saying Chiffuentes sounds the same as a Geordie saying Cheffuwednsday?

Gaffer on today's defeat
at 21:14 1 Nov 2025

Having a good squad is almost becoming more infuriating than having a small one, where the team picks itself.

My thought are:

1) Play a consistent team of players who are in form. That means right now play Smyth. Play Mbuenge. Play Saito. Don't play Vale, think about dropping Kone (but not for Frey). Then when a player's form goes, play the others who are out of the team.

Smyth scored our winning goal at Bristol, played well against Millwall and Swansea and then is dropped. Why?

2) Don't worry so much about these "three game weeks". Play your strongest team in the first of those three games. Don't think about game two before game one. Deal with any injuries or poor displays after and if there hasn't been any, play your strongest team again in game two.

The death of Jota must have had an impact, probably the major reason. Massive thing to happen and hard to get over I'd say.

A cheeky backheel stop for the on running Kone to smash home would have been liquid football.

Brilliant game, brilliant team goal and well held on

Yes, someone on the match thread just described it as "shockingly bad". Hilarious!

Played well but for the last 10 mins, which was a hard watch.

After Many A Summer Dies The Swan, Swansea Match Thread
at 21:57 22 Oct 2025

From minute one you could tell we were going to win that. Played really well.

Then second half it looked like we were the ones with 10 men at times.

We then took control when Chair came on and should have scored three. Looking at the Chair chance, a cheeky backheel of just stopping the ball for Kone to smash home would have been delightful.

Thought they had scored on three occasions in the last few mins. Hard watch.

But overall we looked far the better side. Imagine being a Swansea fan - they were pretty toothless.

Paul Smyth

Overall, he's been a brilliant signing for QPR. Looking forward to see if he can push on this season and make an impact either as a starter or sub. The manager seems to like him, especially as he's got two goals. Cifuentes seemed to like him too.

As has been mentioned before, it's probably no coincidence that both his goals have been coming in from the left, where most of his goals for Orient did too. That said, I do enjoy watching him attack the Loft on the Ellerslie side of the pitch in the second half.

Déjà vu all over again for Stéphan’s resurgent Rangers – Report

I've liked Smyth from day one, and by day one I mean his debut at home to Cardiff way back when.

Edit - great report Clive, had been looking forward to that since 84 mins on Saturday. LOL at the seal's ringpiece analogy.

King Richard

Shame this great song can't be adapted..."he had everything a man could want, power, grace style".

A song influenced from this poem:

Richard Cory

BY EDWIN ARLINGTON ROBINSON
Whenever Richard Cory went down town,
We people on the pavement looked at him:
He was a gentleman from sole to crown,
Clean favored, and imperially slim.

And he was always quietly arrayed,
And he was always human when he talked;
But still he fluttered pulses when he said,
"Good-morning," and he glittered when he walked.

And he was rich—yes, richer than a king—
And admirably schooled in every grace:
In fine, we thought that he was everything
To make us wish that we were in his place.

So on we worked, and waited for the light,
And went without the meat, and cursed the bread;
And Richard Cory, one calm summer night,
Went home and put a bullet through his head.

OK, the final line won't work!

Well I'm a Smyth fan so wouldn't argue with that either although seems Kolli is the better finisher.

Great match report as always, was looking forward to that one.

Some have been wondering where Kolli fits in with the group of players we have. With this formation of two up front, could that be where he is best used if Burrell isn't playing and Kone is?

Don't want to tempt fate but Armstrong and Kelman out for Burrell and Kone is genius in its simplicity! Someone must be given credit for that.
