Had we drawn with Blackburn and today
at 11:14 30 Nov 2025

The more games you go unbeaten, the closer you are to your next defeat... for a side like Coventry and the form they're in, they go on long runs... for a side like us, coming off the back off of a horrible run with a couple of wins, we're going to mean revert a bit quicker...

And I'm sure this has been done to death elsewhere, but the schedules this week were totally out of whack... Norwich played at home on Tuesday, we went to Blackburn on Wednesday... yes I'm surprised we didn't rotate the squad but he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't... you're a genius until you're an idiot.

Town’s four-star Halloween fright night leaves Rangers reeling – Report
at 12:21 3 Nov 2025

It was a weird game. After we equalised they were rattled and at half time I thought they were there for the taking, but their second goal completely changed it. Esquardinha had been pretty good at Bristol City but letting the winger run past you in their first attack for the opener must have scrambled his brain, hence the absurd shot just before half time. Ipswich looked like what they were, an expensively-assembled side who played to a level you'd expect once they had a bit of confidence. I thought Philogene was a joy to watch, some lovely touches.

Al Murray these days is about twenty minutes of material and an hour and a half of crowd work... oooh there's a bloke who works in IT, someone in HR, a student, a nurse, etc, etc...

Music lovers/ record collectors
at 11:28 15 Oct 2025

The vinyl is a living, growing collection, sorted alphabetically. But I've got a separate hip hop section for some reason.

CDs have been ripped and retired to plastic boxes in the loft. I made the unconventional decision to sort them by year (and then alphabetically within, natch). My reasoning being that if for some reason I pick up a new CD by Alan and the Aardvarks the whole collection of CDs has to shift by one if sorted alphabetically, involving multiple box switches. If I've got a box for each year I just sling it in the appropriate one.

Also you can open a box of CDs and be transported back to a time in your life and see what you were listening to at that point. Alphabetical organising doesn't give you any of that, it just sticks The Saints next to Saint Etienne. Some bands do have their own box if I've got loads of their stuff. Rules are meant to be broken.

I'm still not convinced it was a great idea but it took me literally months to do and there's no going back now, at least not until I'm retired.

QPR Raffle tickets
at 13:42 24 Sep 2025

I bought some on Saturday but only because we were on a jolly doing lunch and comfy seats in W12 and they come to your table so it seemed rude not to. The winners do get posted on the website...

QPR supporting family....since 1882...anyone knows?
at 20:59 23 Sep 2025

Great-grandfather born 1893 and was a supporter, attending Wembley in 67 with his son and grandson (my Dad!)

No idea if his Dad was a supporter... apparently they ran a bakers in Harlesden at some point.

I've got my work cut out convincing my 8 year old daughter of the many benefits of supporting QPR, she's in an anti-football phase at the moment, she's more likely to be at the head of four generations of Labubu enthusiasts...

Out of the darkness – Report

Kevin Betsy said something after the Sunderland game at the end of last season, something about the how players enjoyed being able to be a bit more attacking... we are far less sideways and backwards these days.

The first goal came from a quick throw by Walsh, but what was great was that when the ball came across not only was Kone there to step over it, but Smyth had charged into the box to finish it off (just about). In recent seasons it's been notable the lack of bodies we've been able to get in the box, decent balls in that end up floating across the opposition box, just begging to be finished off.

Similarly, the forward runs of Burrell and Kone both helped Saito's run at goal for the second.

It's bleeding obvious really, but great to see.

And if this world runs out of lovers – Preview

In part, that reaction at Vicarage Road might have been a bit of PTSD from those who there two years previously. I stomped off home in a huff at half time that day, and at 0-2 after 23 minutes I was having 'Nam-style flashbacks - helicopters, explosions, Joe Gubbins...

Familiar learnings and fresh frustrations as QPR lose at Watford – Report
at 23:28 17 Aug 2025

Madsen was diabolical. It was noticeable that Morgan's first couple of touches were dreadful, but he pulled himself together and put in a decent performance, capped with a brilliant goal. Not sure Madders has the cojones to mentally drag himself up to where he needs to be once things start going against him.

And it wouldn't have made a difference, but Louza took at least three minutes to get off the pitch after being sent off, following long remonstrations with the ref and the fourth official, but we got barely an extra minute added on for it.

Must be a very frustrating watch if you're an Ipswich fan... wanting to take a touch and come inside/turn backwards, Birmingham just crawling all over them.

Maybe a move is close... would explain why Palace are briefing that the sell-on is relatively low, to keep their support onside. No-one is likely to find out for years by which time most people will have forgotten.

Underfloor bathroom heating
at 14:05 27 Jun 2025

Moved house and the first estimated monthly dual fuel bill was bigger than the mortgage payment (which was unpleasant enough). The previous owners had been using the kitchen and bathroom underfloor heating as the main heat source in those areas, and were literally burning money. A nice luxury but only to be used sparingly I'd suggest.
