Hard to pigeonhole them after their first album - jazz, baggy, prog - this from their second.

Agree
We’re off this weekend up to Lochinver, Sutherland for four nights in a pod-thing. Magical part of the country.
The North Coast 500 has made it a lot busier which is hard on the infrastructure but also brings in a lot of local coin.
Good thread.

Oh, and if that was you Ted on recent podcast thing - cheers for doing that, I enjoyed it.

A Burnley season ticket pal has never warmed to Parker, even in promotion times.

Paraphrasing his words…

Madsen’s rich redemption, StĆ©phan’s words of warning – Preview

Thanks Norf.
Positive human story here to be celebrated.
Regarding Madsen as a player - was never as bad as some feared, or as good as some hoped (but that’s what makes this place tick).

PETS..
at 06:01 9 Apr 2026

My brother-in-law got a cava-poo in covid times. Similar I think?
Lovely dog, a real family character - great with kids.
Unfortunately they were unlucky as health problems is costing them a bomb - increasing insurance, annual injections, monthly grooming fees etc.
With the family now working less from home, separation anxiety seems a thing with it too (on both sides). My retired father-in-law often driving 40 mins to spend time with it during the day.
It’s a fab dog - full of beans and loved to bits. They wouldn’t get another one though.

On the other hand. We are thankful to be allowed to live in a house with a couple of mildly tolerant but utterly nonchalant cats. šŸ˜‚

I think I remember Chris Kiwomya scoring in the away game at Swipswitch.
Don’t remember seats being bad.

Never warmed to Frank.

However, I really like Willem Dafoe who looks identical.

Spurs in championship would be hilarious.

Man city vs Liverpool ghost goal
at 17:56 9 Feb 2026

Hmmm it’s a mess.

Given that players can be booked for retaliation, why wasn’t Haaland booked for hauling back the Liverpool defender after he himself had been fouled?
After he took his shirt off after the pen that would’ve been a second yellow and off too.
Why isn’t that the correct decision? Maybe missing something but…

Man city vs Liverpool ghost goal
at 15:29 9 Feb 2026

Agree.
But when we’re talking about the game getting lost in a VAR hole, let’s not confuse it with other tech introductions.
Goal line technology is not VAR and so the Lampard ghost goal example doesn’t make sense to me.
Henry v ROI is perhaps a better historical example?

I like goal line tech - very simple b/w use of tech. Let’s keep the stuff that adds value.
VAR is dog shit.

Speeding fines, points, potholes and pedestrian crossings have slowed me down too.
Funny thing is, since I’ve adapted my driving I don’t seem to take any longer getting places.

Related to this was shifting from moaning about traffic, to accepting that I am the traffic - that’s helped my mindset too.

Life’s hard enough without having roads boil my piss.

Ainsworth ā€œpossession can do oneā€

It feels (as others have said) the trend is more about what you can do with the ball quickly, rather than how long you can take care of the ball.

Welcome for me. Always struggled watching centre backs trade sideways passes for 25 mins per game.

Dembele v Smythe

Smyth was really good at the ugly side of the game generally and last night too.
Getting his body between player and ball. He wins a lot of marginal free kicks.
Massively important when managing a 0-1 lead with time running down.
I bet he’s hard work playing against.

I quite like the gogglebox summarising the best bits of tv I don’t have the time to watch.

A version for fans networks could have appeal if anyone has the time to pick out the nuggets.

Norf - please add this to the new concept ideas long list of the niche but nice šŸ‘
