My son's a Liverpool fan. On Wednesday, I told him that there was a choice between watching the Liverpool Champions League match or the QPR Championship match in the Living Room. I suggested that I wouldn't put him through the torment of enduring another Liverpool performance, so told him I'd be watching the QPR match in the Living Room and he could do whatever he liked. He chose to watch the Liverpool game elsewhere. With 10 minutes to go in the QPR match, he poked his head into the Living Room and said "I see you're enjoying your night more than I am!". There is a part of me that feels sorry for him and saying "welcome to the what it feels like to support a normal football team". Another part of me did say that "I looked at the top half of the Premiership Table and didn't see Liverpool there, don't worry, Big Sam is putting his CV together, he'll keep you up!" |

Asterisks here there and everywhere, you can talk about them all you like. But nobody ever gives Obelisk the credit he deserves for doing all the heavy lifting to enhance the legend. While the Asterisk is granted immortality by being included on your standard keyboard, where's the Obelus eh? ( The Obelus is the mathematical dividing sign by the way, with two dots above and below a horizontal line). It's clear and obvious discrimination. |

If your fertile imagination drags you in that direction, who am I to deny you your fantasies? Enjoy the moment.... |

I was on holiday in Italy and saw a grinder for Parmesan cheese, and just thought that was genius. I bought one, brought it back home and haven't looked back. |

That's the RTE Sports Personality of the Year sorted. Sorry Rory! |

I have invested in season tickets for the Ireland home games for my son and I over the past few seasons. Tonight, we finally got a return on that investment. It was a special atmosphere from the start and simply got better as the night unfolded. My son thinks it's the best home win since Germany ten years ago. I told him to savour this feeling, as nights like this don't come around too often for us long suffering Irish fans. |
 | Forum Reply | They Couldn't Wait Until Wednesday 10pm To Sack Him - QPR Vs Southampton Thread at 23:30 6 Nov 2025
We had 12 corners and 40 crosses, but Southampton had 60 clearances. That suggests we didn't have players who would win aerial duels up front. Burrell seems to me to need a bit of space to run into, like he did with his goal. He's not a target man who you can lump the ball up to and will lay off the ball to a supporting forward time after time. Kone's key strength is running into space too. Southampton sat so deep there was no space at all in front of their goal, which was utterly frustrating to watch as we didn't have the ability to play through that defense. Was it a scenario where Frey could have thrived? But he wasn't on the bench. |

Must create a Plan B, when persisting with Plan A of attempting high crosses into a box defended by giants doesn't work. |

I noticed the two medics who ran onto the pitch didn't even attempt to massage the keeper's leg to alleviate any cramp. They just knelt down beside the incapacitated keeper and healed him through the medium of prayer. Hallelujah. |

We paid it a visit after the match on Saturday, thinking that most home supporters would turn left on the Uxbridge Road, coming off Loftus Road, before beginning their search for a pub. We were rewarded for our initiative by getting a table straight away. I can recommend the Oxford Gold draught ale served there. It's hoppy and full of flavour. |

I totally agree. He clearly saw every incident, just like everyone in attendance in the ground. He didn't hesitate to give free kicks for shirt tugging etc on the halfway line, but refused to blow his whistle for the same foul in the penalty area. That's just unacceptable, the referee's job is to call everything as he sees it, irrespective of where the foul occurs on the pitch. I know VAR is a curse, but it was born out of frustration like this. |

It's a no-brainer. Maximise your tax-free withdrawals from your pension pots upon drawdown, ie take the full 25%. You'll be paying tax on every future withdrawal, so you'll be minimising your tax liability by taking the lump sum. |

I read an article which said he has been out with a long term injury since last December and only started very light training in July. He wasn't expected to be anywhere near ready for a match for quite some time, well into the season. |

I can't believe we are this far down the thread and nobody has mentioned Ashley Young. Harald Schumacher gets a dishonourable mention. |
