This is the problem we have had since Ruben took over. When the owner is absent, an issue like this which any supporter can see with their own eyes, is not addressed. It's why Brighton and Brentford are where they are, and we're facing Groundhog Day.
And who does Ruben delegate to? Lee Hoos, who appears to still be picking up his salary as 'Chairman', but is like a minor royal in terms of his influence, and Nourry.
Nourry surprises me. I thought he would have done something about this in the summer but he backed his mate and that could be his biggest mistake. There is no doubt we have a better squad now but if they’re not on the pitch and we finish in the lower half of the table again, he has failed, particularly considering we've spent the Eze windfall now. This was the season and if it's torpedoed by injuries again, he only has himself to blame (though it'll probably be someone else's fault). |

Assuming the Madsen injury was incurred against Derby, it does make you wonder why he was on the bench on Saturday. It might also explain Obikwu not coming on either - maybe he is still injured. It's bluffing the opposition to think you have a full house when you've got a pair of twos. Competitive advantage.  |

The whole thing is weird. Nourry doesn't strike me as a soft touch so doubling down on Dr Ben is odd as it obviously affects how the Nourry project goes. |

Madsen was definitely limping for a bit after a challenge in the second half against Derby.
If our injury list is bad when we're managing players' minutes, I dread to think what it would be like if we didn't! |

Madsen got a kick on his ankle against Derby. He hobbled for a bit, then ran it off. I'm sure Clive's report will address the injury and fitness issues. Apparently, Birmingham fielded the same team as midweek; we seem to be continually resting players, whether that's taking players off after an hour or players can't play successive games. It would be a shame if the promise of this squad is affected by the same issues we've seen in the last couple of seasons. |

It is so bizarre. Even the Charlton match when he came on he was out of position.
The striker situation is our biggest issue. If we had Nahki from a few seasons back in this team, we'd definitely make the play-offs. Let's hope Burrell is back soon. |

The main difference for me is how well we have played generally. Still not doing it for the full 90 minutes but a real difference to last season when the standout performance was the first half of the Marti derby. Our defence has improved dramatically and is now our strong point - Charles and Ronnie our players of the season to date but the lot of them including Adamson have been excellent. Kamara is a step up in quality and Smyth is playing the best football of his career. The biggest disappointment is what's happened to Kone as we could do with him firing on all cylinders.
Definitely our best chance in more than a decade of going up. Will be interesting to see whether we get a striker on loan in the window. [Post edited 16 Oct 8:09]

Yes, fair play to Nourry as he got it badly wrong last season. We've gone from the goalkeeper being our weakest link to our strongest. |
