Nothing has beaten the Oldham night game, ( I've been lurking down here for 55 years) the only game that comes near it was the Leeds game in 1968? , Billy Brenner said he'd never heard anything like it.

I think they won the title that year?

Welcome aboard Alfie, ( Jesus he must be good!).

Yes Brentford usually have some juicy European B team games, (very good quality), with obviously a few good Danish fixtures included.

Thanks Clive for another season of top journalism, and bloody funny/ dark humour match reports, so needed in this last bonkers twelve months.

Morning is ever full or constant at our club, but we all seem to have started ourselves to a great place for next season, god knows what will happen about FFP and what we decide to do as a club with our existing squad.

Great work Clive!

Excellent idea, it might only be a week, but that's amended their budgets to 51 weeks not 52

Now let's try two weeks........

Lumley Excluded from Bench?

Yes, fair point, I guess I forgot by now it's a pure transfer out, season over situation.

Weird next season if they are both gone.

Lumley Excluded from Bench?
at 20:03 24 Apr 2021

Am I understanding Warbs correctly?

He sort of intimated that they had words yesterday, ( I might have misunderstood his comments, so apologies if I am wrong) but I am wondering if Lumley said " why are you playing an injured player ahead of me?"

A reasonable point after what happened to Lumley when he was seriously injured at Aston Villa a year or so ago, band played on.

We know what happened afterwards.

Surely thinking about Facial/Head injuries has changed?

I thought Lumley was excellent at Middlesbrough and Swansea , but would still have Senny as first choice, but would have rested him today, to allow full recovery, ( and to hide him from Arsenal).

Chris Willock

Yes, as mentioned above he is now not shy about putting himself about, in a very physical division he is now knocking defenders off the ball.

He does get better with every game and his ability to drive into the box and play a short cross will be crucial next season, ( let's hope no one is watching).

In passing thought the ref was beyond useless today, just plain poor.

Kakay- Centre Half today?

Yes, agree if Dewijs had been available things might have been very different.

Yes, the Kane point from Brian is a good question, is their a selection problem because of the interview?

Kakay- Centre Half today?
at 17:52 5 Apr 2021

Just wondering, looking at the utter shambles in midfield and at Centre back today, ( not Fields fault, Warbs shouldn't have tampered with defence and midfield at the same time) surely it would have been much easier to put Kakay in at Centre back.
When he has had to play their before, Fulham Home etc he has been superb.

It was painfully obvious after five minutes that something was horribly wrong in midfield.

Fair do's to Forest, they were good, and Dieng stopped three certain goals before half-time, (not counting Barbet's intervention), and Houghton is now sorting them out, they should be a handful next season.

Pleased for Dykes, I think we will get their with Willock , Dykes and please God Charlie, but some tough decisions ahead about some of our players before next season.

You wouldn't want the Brentford Goalkeeper taking you're dog for a walk.

How did Jo Lumley do today?
at 21:48 2 Apr 2021

Played very well, looked very confident, good handling of crosses, and a few driven shots.

Very comfortable with the back three/five.

Villa away 1968
at 19:01 26 Mar 2021

Yes, wonderful day, my memory is most of us were in the Holt end, numbers tricky but judging by the noise and chanting during the game particularly goal celebrations, I would suggest 12-15,000, ( I think the gate that day was 32,000)
Villa were in a bad way at the time, I think Tommy Docherty was about to arrive, and gates leapt up to 60,000.

What a day

Why is Austin playing so deep?
at 19:42 21 Mar 2021

Yes, his cross field play (up front) is very good, (I still remember that pass at Cardiff.)

His presence on the pitch also raises confidence around him, ( Dykes), a rare quiet day yesterday, but huge difference in the balance in the side since the Bristol City game
