Saito had no pre-season and was thrown straight in due to our form. Maybe the energy levels have dropped. He'll get us off our seats again |

He's done it because he and his family are taking pelters from dickheads who hide behind a keyboard. I think it was quite mature for a 20 year old to come out and talk to this, adding context regarding his dad and saying he's gonna continue to work hard to work his way into the managers plans. Shows how much he wants to succeed here. Give the lad a break, he's only doing his best by his family and our team. He certainly ain't bitching on the latter which dispels a load of the shtie some have written and are probably sadly reading on Musk's rag. |

Read it and digest it…But in simple form, you get the pace in behind to turn them. The pace player either gets it to the main goal scorer, or goes alone if that’s the main goal scorer. But this only a thing when we try to go direct, which we mostly ain’t. He’s usually an out and out when we build up slowly. If he’s pulled out from there then he’s looking for space. Mostly against a 3 at the back. Have a look today |

So you’d have Kone running into the channels for that direct ball with his unblistering pace to lay it on for Burrell, or whoever plays in that supporting role? He wouldn’t get half the balls that Burrell, Dembele, Smyth, Kolli, or Chair would get when we go direct. The idea is Burrell, or another gets in behind and gets it to Kone who should be hitting the box. Can’t believe folk have even questioned the thought process, it’s glaringly the right thing with what try to do. If he’d scored half the sitters that were nailed on goals for him 6 weeks ago it wouldn’t be a debate. We do however need to mix it up against a low block. Chair’s retention of the ball should help here now he’s back. |
 | Forum Reply | Kolli up front in a two at 14:21 8 Oct 2025
The noise around him is mostly from 20 old blokes on here He's had a stop start 2 years due to injuries, so I don't think he can be judged just yet. If he gets a run in the team without injury we can judge him then. I think he's got it, and upstairs, too. His work rate and game management on Saturday was very good. He also didn't look like somebody who was unhappy at the end of the game. |

Get him back and regularly available for the 2nd half of the season and I’ll be overjoyed. Felt very rushed. He seemed to go from light training to playing in about 3 weeks after nada for 6months+ |

Every team has 10-15 min bursts in a game, but it’s what you deliver in that burst. Could have had a couple at the beginning of the 2nd half and the remainder would have been different if we’d got at least one. They’d have come knocking harder potentially creating space in behind. Look at Wrexham. Arsenal were no different yesterday and ended up behind for not punishing the oppo |

And in the 1 1 on Saturday Burrell was the one furthest forward, so that would make Kone the No10. In old money. As folk say, it’s quite difficult to talk in numbers these days. Especially as the game has become more offensive (lots more attacking midfielders) with lots of temporary switches in formation and approach during the match |

The previous time Burnley got promoted they consistently played 3 in every game under Kompany. It’s to do with the quality, but also what your end goal is. If it’s promotion and you can attract the right loans it’s a no brainier |

+ switching to a back 3 from Norwich onwards in the last game of the calendar year. i thought he was toast after the Cardiff game, but rightly lost his faith in Barbet being good enough to play in two (you can stick your bandage..for anybody who doesn't want to hear it). Drew, but should have won at high flying Norwich and never looked back with Barbet looking good in a 3 - there you go for balance! |
 | Forum Reply | Have you ever caught the ball at a game? at 17:19 1 Sep 2025
Bobby Mimms kicked the ball into the away paddock in temper at the end of a game in the 80's. I was about 14, but got both mitts on it. There was a bit of tussle, but a friends dad spotted me and bundled everybody out of the way, stuck it under his jacket and gave me a lift home. Lovely Adidas Tango. Sold it to my mate for £20 (they were £30 new) |

Hopefully some will stop wetting the bed now. Although it might be a few weeks before we see him, as I doubt he’s trained for months. With his injury record, we need to give him time to get up to speed |

 | Forum Reply | Sam Field at 13:05 20 Aug 2025
I only have one criticism of Sam, but unfortunately it’s a big one. He mostly cant gain control of a football without several touches, meaning he has no choice but to go backwards, as the oppo have already gained 5 yards on him. Have said for years, cant he be kept back post training for somebody to keep firing the ball into feet for 20 mins. Asking a professional footballer to do that when they’re 7-8 years into their professional career might not go down well, but we can all improve and practice makes perfect. As for the person who said we’re much worse without him. Look back at the hopeful season when the wheels came off for Warburton. We were doing pretty well and eyeing the playoff in the first 3-4 months. Sam Field’s season started against Stoke at home in December. So desperate was MB to get him back in the team, he played left wing back. Within weeks Steph had been shifted forward and out of DM and replaced by Sam. All progression to move the ball through the lines was lost and we turned into a team who played it into midfield and back again and around again. I love Sam and his heart, but trapping and controlling a ball is a basic every player needs, especially professional ones |

He was busy as Venga's No2 for years in a period when they couldn't defend for toffee, even after being given the trade secrets by the great Tony Adams.. Just saying...but it was the first thing I thought when he was announced |
 | Forum Reply | Daniel Bennie - New 15 year deal at 15:43 19 Aug 2025
I think that's where I'm confused and differ from your view of him being a good squad player. He's been around the first team for best part of a year, but I can't tell you what his key attributes are. Within 10 mins of Morgan pulling on the shirt I could see he wanted to be on the ball and move it forward intelligently. Generally link up play and be competitive when required. Esquedina's ability to defend might be called into question at some point, but I have a feel for what sort of player he is from pretty much watching him against Watford. I have no idea how Bennie wants to play the game. He just seems to run around a bit without any real identity of what sort of player he is. I've deliberately not included the likes of Kolli here, as we got a chance to see him at other levels, so would be an unfair comparison. When I see a player get up off the bench and stand on the touchline, I want to know what I'm getting and feel positive about the change it could bring. I just think what's the point with Bennie. Maybe he's around the first team too early, but two managers have now invited him to the table and I'm left scratching my head. |
 | Forum Reply | Jonathan Varane contract extension at 13:36 4 Aug 2025
Sam Field can’t trap a football and that’s why people start threads about him playing at CB, or managers have played him in advanced midfield positions. We all love Sam and want him out there, but he makes us static playing in DM. The prime suspect when it comes to playing it back to the defence, as he has no confident command of the ball. Whilst Varane isn’t perfect, he’s head and shoulders ahead of Field with the ball |
