Smith injured recently, missed the last handful of games. Thomas got long term injured at Port Vale, not back fit yet.

Sam Parker. Pay the lad a good wage.
at 09:32 22 Apr 2024

Surely if he's one bad injury away from worthless then he needs to play hardball on contracts now to make as much money as he can, here or elsewhere? It's not shenanigans to reject a contract offer. Both the club and the player's side will be trying to get the best deal they can, that's just business.

Huws career was ruined by the injuries. Our record for keeping youngsters fit is worrying over recent years.

🔴 Should Williams play the academy players ?
at 21:43 11 Apr 2024

If Ashby wasn't useless it wouldn't have been a bad move. Abdulai isn't a fullback and Parker's incredible progress was unexpected. Cover made sense, and we needed it with Key's issues.

Lissah wasn't a Mark Allen signing, by the time he began his role as academy director the work of the recruitment staff was well under way. That busload of PL academy players (Veevers, Faakye, Wilson etc.) was driven by Jack Chapman, who had the right contacts at Chelsea.

If we wrote off teenagers for not being good enough then DJ, Rodon and Roberts wouldn't have made it with us either. Cooper was 21 when he first went on loan. Cullen 22. No sense in rushing to judgement given our track record. Abdulai is 21 and two years older than Joel.

afaik Wilson hasn't played since he was on crutches a couple of months ago (the cup final?). Liam Smith missed the last u21s game, no idea why, his lack of first team involvement this season honestly baffles me. Been the best player in the u21s since he joined the club, and we're bringing on an u18s player in his position...

The tale of two 24+ year olds
at 08:38 8 Apr 2024

Cooper and Cullen get a lot of unfair stick for not "kicking on" when as you say they're earning fractions of what other first team players are. Cullen's stock peaked as an u18s wonderkid and he's done well to become a Championship squad player after struggling with the physical steps up, and Cooper was never a hot prospect. They've both done well, better than expected when they were 20/21 year olds on the verge of leaving the club without fanfare, and it speaks to the standard of our recruitment that we've not got better options available.

Joel Cotterill, Kian Kenkins and Kai Ludvigsen in that picture are still with us as well. Jack Karadogan was at Newport for a bit, got on the bench a few times, now in the Cymru Prem.

Congreve's biggest problem stepping up is pace. He can make a yard of space but up against faster and smarter men at senior level struggles to do anything with it. Confidence soon lost. If he had the same top speed as Parker or (supposedly) Govea, or even Ollie Cooper, he'd be a very different prospect. Still younger than Dan James was when DJ made his senior debut. But he's slipped down the most-likely list since Martin promoted him prematurely.

The u23 game V TNS to be shown on tele
at 21:10 20 Jan 2024

TNS beat Cymru Prem teams by 4 or 5 goals regularly. They're so far above the rest of the league it's a joke.

Harsh scoreline with the two late goals. They named their strongest team while we had to put out a scratch side with no striker and players returning from injury. Game played on a hard plastic pitch that only benefited the favourites who have an identical one in their stadium. Linesmen were only looking one way.

Better team did win but on another day it could have been a much closer contest.

What do we do with Jerry
at 12:54 16 Jan 2024

Yates has already played twice as much football for us as Whittaker did in the 3 seasons he was here. Difficult comparison to make. When Yates was Whittaker's age he was struggling to break through at Rotherham not lighting up the Championship. He's in his prime years, has been given ample opportunities, and can't do the basics up front to help his team.

If he could get himself up to the dinner table he wouldn't be feeding off the floor every week. He had another awful game.

How does a football club that loses £20m in a year fund anything else?

Can't score if you don't shoot, and we have regularly given the opportunities to other clubs' players. Cabango was lucky that Wilmot got injured and then Guehi was shambolic when he arrived. Bang average Luke Cundle given plenty of minutes over (bang average) Ollie Cooper last season, helping Wolves rather than ourselves. Azeem Abdulai looking at loan players acquired for the bench in both his main and backup positions, little hope even without the injury.

Norrington-Davies was let go at 16. Preston's keeper last night was released. Ryan Hedges played 43 games for Blackburn last season, they finished above us.

4 or 5 PL/top Championship players passed over would be insane for a club our size. Heads would justifiably roll.

His name is spelled Микола Кухаревич. Both Kukharevych and Kuharevich are equally acceptable English translations afaik.

Tymon and Yates cost a fortune, and Key may end up the same. Lowe's wages are expensive. We spent but not on much quality.

If I was Maloney's agent I'd have been putting a tenner on him with all the bookies. Easy publicity.

Sod anyone's fantasy team, he's in his 10th season at a top half PL side and still going strong. Don't get that for ~£30m net transfer profit very often these days.

Sheehan : Football wise we have got a lot of work to do !

Constantly hiring and firing/losing people at upper levels is part of the problem. No one has any time to settle and do the work and show whether they're "up to it" or not.
