Looking at the highlights he got down really quickly to a couple of those shots, something our more, ahem, senior keeper has struggled with in a few games this season. I know Asmir gets a lot of flak on here but actually I wouldn't be averse to giving him another year (if the price is right) and slowly integrate Joe as first choice over the course of the season. Good pro to learn from.
This should go in the confessional thread but I stopped watching (on DAZN in Canada) at 2-0 h/t. We were brilliant for the first 35 mins, possibly the best I've seen us play since that first 30 mins against Luton when we blew them away with our high pressing and quick passing. For any neutral watching it was us who looked like the soon-to-be premier side. However because of the nervy season we've had (and watching us under Redknapp and Ainsworth) I thought Leeds are going to get back into this and my heart won't be able to cope.
So I stepped away and figured I'd take a quick peek on here or BBC Sport towards the end, fully expecting it to be 2-2 (which I would have taken before the game) or 2-3 (hello Bournemouth). I should have had more faith. This manager, Xavi and Paul and this set of players has got me believing again.
Don’t forget Sheff Weds - still in the mix despite thumping Baggies today. And Blackburn away at Leicester could still go, if Brum and Plymouth both win their home games. And if we’d lost to Leeds we’d have still been in the mix!
If Huddersfield go down would it be worth a punt on Sorba Thomas to replace Willock? Always liked him, more direct than Willock and can take a good set-piece. Only 25, thought he was older than that. Of course it could be that he only plays well against us!
He seemed to glide by our players Eze-like. Very impressive. Luckily his finishing didn’t match his pace and body-swerves today. Surprised he’s Canadian, haven’t seen him play for the national team. Sort of player I’d love to see replace Chair or Willock if either of them leave but I think Preston want him on a perm.
Was watching through my fingers second half, particularly when Millar got the ball. But we did it! Put their bodies on the line today. Willock outstanding until he tired, Lyndon chasing everything and scoring the winner, Jake, Jimmy and Cooky superb. Colback rolling back the years in midfield. Should have scored a second but it wouldn’t have been QPR without a nervous 1-0. Come on Blackburn tomorrow. You Rs!
His first goal was a thing of beauty. Feel for Eze as I think Palmer is the better number 10, but what a dilemma for Southgate to have. With the likes of him, Foden, Bellingham, Kane, Eze we have an embarrassment of riches and must be one of the favourites for the Euros and 2026 World Cup.
Interested to know how many times in the last 40 years or so that our relegation (or promotion) has gone down to the last game of the season? I remember Man City of course, Palace at home, Luton at home and Furlong’s header, Coventry away and Eoin bloody Jess. Leeds at home with Faurlingate and the threat of a points deduction.
0-2, came after a stupid giveaway from Willock on the touchline. We're second best all over the park and this game could ruin our goal difference. Right back in the proverbial with 3 to go.
We had a great set of mid-week results but this weekend is turning out to be the opposite. Things usually balance themselves out. Have to get something from today.
Boils my piss that the top 6-8 are gifting points to those around us. Let’s hope Leeds, Coventry, Preston are equally generous when we play them. Still think we have work to do and 47 points won’t be enough, surprised there are folks on here who think it will be.
