Dykes comes good as QPR nudge Owls towards doom – Report
at 20:21:13

Always a good read Clive, but even more so when we win! Dykes was rightly praised for his positioning between the two CBs and accurate, powerful header; but let's not forget that it was Barbet's early, pin-point diagonal cross that made it possible! (Wallace and Kakay please learn from Barbet and Adomah on this!!) Totally agree about their goal - our Back 3 decides to shift so far right they were not in camera view, and Wallace belatedly realises the danger, whilst acknowledging he had left his booster pack in the changing room.... I do feel that Chair and Willock roaming causes a lot of teams problems and they too would benefit from more successful crosses into the box - even from poor clearances. Overall a strange game. We won with some great goals but I never felt it was a good performance - and we were lucky (for once) with some decisions by the match officials.

Birmingham late show stuns below par QPR - Report
at 20:46:15

Thanks for the report Clive! I do think you have been harsh on Dykes because as soon as he came on he was causing problems for Birmingham and never stopped. I accept he did not score but then he was playing midfield, obviously under instruction. One further point: if the EFL really cared about fans, injuries to players through a unnecessarily congested fixture schedule, and revenue for hard-hit clubs they would have extended the season past 17 May to enable matches with spectators. But of course that would be smart and go against Sky's wishes....

Kane strikes back at critics as Rangers roll on - Report
at 15:42:03

There was the difference to see between these two sides - one has post-PL concerns and the other one now knows it has a solid defence to build play upon. In the past the Rs looked nervous at extending themselves up the field in case the defence folded, but now they leave the defence to get on with it and stretch the opposition by chasing ball-players and moving the ball in possession. Without a doubt this does stem from the 3-4-3 formation and I only wish Warbs had taken that 'eureka' bath sooner...!

QPR toast first cup final success since 67 – Report
at 17:35:28

Thanks Clive! This was another one of those all-team performances that was too much for the opposition to handle. Delighted and now actually looking forward to some tough opposition in the next matches! well done Warbs and squad!!

Ongoing home woes stall Rangers' recent progress - Report
at 20:45:12

Thanks Clive!
Would only add that I (and many others I suspect) spent the last, long 10 mins of the game shouting at the players to stop side-passing and get the ball into their goal area!!
Sadly even Rooney realised that neither 'Rubber Hamma' or 'Kalamity Kane' have any intention of preventing balls being crossed...

And then a hero comes along – Report
at 15:52:50

Is it not lovely to have 3 players competing hard for MotM!? I know Dykes missed a chance but his overall work rate was amazing - he was twice to be found standing next to Dieng having trailed attackers all the way back but still managed to chase down effectively balls at the other end. Certainly his best game! With regard to Chair coming off regularly, like Dykes he runs and chases and runs; so Warburton wants to protect him for the next game. I was delighted to see Carroll did not get subbed though. Taking off our two best passers of the ball at the same time never made sense Mr. W!

Strikers misfire as Austin watches on - Report
at 19:14:17

Not having Kakay fit for so many weeks has made it easier for opponents to cross without hinderance or bypass Kalamity Kane or a still-learning(?) Hamalainen. We simply do not have depth in the squad to bring quality off the bench. In regard to Carroll it is now many weeks into the season, so why does he have to come off at 60 mins? Is he not match-fit still? (Chair and Dykes run themselves ragged, so I understand why Chair is replaced.) Having said all that we know our major problem is our finishing. Bonne knows the Championship (heck we knew him too) so he should have landed with his boots on! Dykes is just trying too hard, coming far too far back to assist when Bonne is incapable it seems of taking the upfield flick and doing something notable with it. Dykes and whoever need to focus upon the goal area and Warburton must ensure they get far better service from BOS, Kane and Hama!

Olise's late strike ruins return of crowd to Loftus Road - Report
at 22:58:43

Totally agree with your praise for Dickie, Carroll and Chair(who deserves a rest). We look good in possession but the final third seems to involve BOS & Chair going for goal (whilst Willock and Adomah do make first-time crosses) and Dykes just working hard. At the back it seems as if all the players were asleep when closing down players was mentioned! re Cameron's waning battery at 60 minutes - what is wrong with Masterson coming on to replace him? He can both attack and defend as well, and he certainly needs game time!

Brentford blessed by Toney's fast start - Interview
at 18:08:07

" Surely too for all the false “we don’t care about you” bravado there’s a burning desperation to shove the gloating back down our throats for once." Not heard any gloating from sad Bees, so I really do not care! Brentford supporters are the ones claiming this is a special fixture, which makes me wonder if they are insecure or something... They have a great team and will be in the Play Offs by season end. They should have gone up last season, but screwed it up, and this season will be a whole later harder methinks...

The annual defeat at Ewood Park - Report
at 17:11:05

Thanks Clive!
I would have selected Ball, based purely on his recent success, but alongside Cameron we ended up with a chasm often appearing between defence and attack. Has to be Cameron or Ball alongside Carroll in future [Mark]! (Although Masterson is a good sub for Cameron too....) As everyone else, really impressed with Willock's play and both his & Adomah's first-time crosses. Kane is fine if opponents do not intend to use the right wing, otherwise you must use Kakay [Mark]! Dieng deserved MotM for us. He just needs to work on his penalty saves to become a fantastic keeper. The push for an equaliser at 2-1 was always going to be risky, so I am not moaning too much about that, but could Dickie find something else to occupy his hands...?

Stalemate does little to boost flagging pair - Report
at 17:12:21

Thanks Clive! Worrying that we now have no cover at Left Back if Hamalainen gets crocked, whilst in DM we have Cameron needing desperately a rest but only Ball & Carroll available to cover (Masterson is not an option it seems), and in AM we have Chair in need of a rest too. Amos is going to be more sorely missed than many would have considered.... Anyway, we need far better service to Macca & The Don - mostly from those in the middle!

Everything but the goal, QPR held at Bournemouth - Report
at 23:16:36

Murder trying to Login with that drop-down advert! Anyway, wanted to say that another good article Clive and your quote of "Cook was smothered and the home team’s midfield couldn’t get a grip on the game – smothered it should be said by Geoff Cameron, Dom Ball and Luke Amos, £500,000 worth of footballer against three players who Bournemouth paid £32m for collectively." was spot on!! Amos had his best game so far and it is a cruel world that denied him finishing as MotM with another long-term ACL injury. Wish him a speedy recovery. Back to the game: With better or luckier finishing we could have had 2 more points, but we managed a point against a far more expensive side that has not lost a game yet - rejoice! When the team goes ball-hunting they are superb.

The view from the Pu – September
at 12:47:12

Thanks for that report Steve and agree with it all - especially in regard to being denied the chance to be part of a match. I am not a season ticket holder, so no chance getting selected, but most others must feel like us and be desperate to attend a match. Come on UK government - do something sensible, popular and workable! With regard to Lee Wallace moving away from the ball-crosser, I can only imagine the backs were told to do this for some reason or Wallace had anticipated the goal and was already positioned on the 'Naughty Sod'....

How can you not be romantic about baseball? Signing
at 21:51:41

OK his best years are probably behind him in terms of pace and speedy recovery from injury, but his desire for the club to win will spur him on and he seems to have been gifted with few injuries. Going to be fun seeing his first QPR goal celebration!

Bonne makes dream start with late rescue act - Report
at 11:46:58

Terrible weather conditions that favoured, if anyone, Wednesday with their balls over midfield. Certainly Chair & Kakay seemed to hate the conditions! The substitutions enforced upon Wednesday were largely self-inflicted - trying to hard to foul rather than play! Again, some poor passes from Cameron and Dickie; and none of the ball-hunting seen against the Florists, but we definitely did enough for a draw and possibly enough for a win. Luongo for me was their star player and showed the tenacity and ball-distribution we have missed. Dykes worked hard in the desert that has become his alone until Bonne came on and left Wednesday vulnerable. Great debut header!

QPR take Bonne chance – Signing
at 13:23:26

Signing any player is a gamble (and I guess you could say a loan is less risky) but the club were right to do this. Whether Bonne turns out to be a Washington-level signing or better, the club has done well with its moves so far so I am hopeful.

Dykes floors Forest with knockout blow - Report
at 20:48:10

Thanks for that report Clive!
Would only add a couple of things:
1. When the team hunts in pairs to get the ball back they do not allow the opposition to settle, and that is what happened against Forest
2. WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE - so why not say it and enjoy it ;)
3. It is early days but it seems transfers on the cheap have worked! Full credit to those involved at the club for selecting and getting the right players it seems

Warbs talks lockdown form, signings, contracts and defence – Interview
at 14:23:37

Little diplomacy there as he was quite open about the defensive errors and the lack of finances to create a better side. Cannot fault him being outspoken or caring. The references to BOS (although he said it wasn't) were revealing too! I really like him as our manager so I hope the first 7 games against top sides does not cause a 'Warburton Must Go!' campaign.

Lyndon calling – Column

A younger version of Hugill? If that is all he is then I am happy, but I suspect he will be even better! Great transfers achieved this season to improve the side, which smacks of good scouting, persistent negotiating, and overall a job well done!!
