Yeah it's an interesting discussion and you're right we'll never agree but I respect your opinion. Maybe there is a new rule I don't know about. If a new rule like that has been introduced then IMO that's crazy. And yes if that happened against England or QPR I'd have no issue whatsoever. A striker being denied a goalscoring opportunity by a defender from behind is a penalty no matter who you support.

But going across the defender hasn't initiated anything. He's found space and can either shoot or pass. If he wants to shoot from there he does need to get across the defender to swivel his foot and body around the ball. Now IMO the defender hasn't deliberately tripped him. But he's been tripped from behind. So it doesn't make a difference whether it's deliberate or not. If penalties were only given for deliberate actions they'd hardly ever be given.

Genuine question but what makes you think it wasn't? He's gone across the defender and legs have been entangled and he's tripped. The defender has made no contact with ball and has prevented a goal scoring opportunity.

That's been a penalty as long as there's been association football and hopefully will continue to be or the games finished. If you're tripped in the box from behind by a defender it's a pen. No other context needed.

Ha ha Is this a new law that been bought in. You can go where you want with the ball. You're taught to cut across so the defender can't get the ball!!!

Well I'm pretty sure we'd have had to? They're not just gonna have an expensive asset get splinters all year? Be interesting how it plays out cause on the other hand I wouldn't leave the SPL to sit on the bench either.

Am I the only one who's not really impressed with having a loan keeper as number 1 and a fella we've just paid 800,000 sitting on the bench. ? I keep hearing, yeah it's the model and fattening pigs for market etc. We keep finishing near the bottom of the table in the championship and have done for years. How about we start dealing with the season ahead of us rather than this fabled day when we're selling players for millions.

Very good points which I agree with. However I don't trust the club to get someone in who his actually better than him. So that 500,000 we're gonna get isn't worth it as we'll have to spend more on a downgrade.

I totally agree with you on this. I'm amazed we're not going with him. He's basically done everything Nourry talks about. Loans, development etc and now we're just gonna drop him like a hot potato? Honestly this club baffles me if true.

Yeah roughly how I see it. Goalkeeper and defence scare the life out of me. And the lack of control our midfield has in games is a real worry. We have no discernible style of play and we leak goals like a sieve.

Absolutely amazed that we haven't watched the way city deal with these low blocks caused they face them ever week. You can pass , pass, pass till eternity but it's use less. City actually run at defenders which causes them to move out of position. They also slide so many balls inside the full backs for wingers to get to the by line and cutback.

Excellent we can write off one third of our season before the season has even begun. Just the annoying FA Cup game to sack off now.
