" Could be amusing asking him what he would do differently running the country as opposed to a football club."
Hopefully nothing. He was hated by idiot fans for only spending money the club could afford and not money it could not afford (or 'investing' as the mornonic fans called it).
The expanded CL makes all the games up until the knockout phase finally begins utterly irrelevant. They play months of games and still have 24 teams going through to the knockouts so all they are really doing is playing from Aug to Feb just to knock out FC Carrierbag and the a couple of others.
These games are little more than friendlies so I can see why fans can't be bothered to pay the exorbitant ticket prices and just stay at home and watch on TV.
"They want ( and reluctantly to their credit have achieved ) a Player Trading Business and Entertainment Business based at St Mary’s, that at best makes them money and at worst doesn’t lose any."
Really? SR spent £160m to get us relegated and our incomes have been Championship for two of the past 3 seasons.
The club is around 1/4 billion in debt so, at worst not losing money, may be a trifle optimistic.
Next season isn't our last year of parachute payments.
Do you really want us to go up?!?! Baring Scienza we haven't got a single player who is anywhere near PL level.
To stay up we would need to bring in a whole new squad of players and we won't have the funds to do this and SR don't have the football intelligence to do this. It would be another season of trying to reach double figures of points and I don't think many fans could stomach this.
If we stay in this division at least we will win some games next season and the league table shows that teams who do not have parachute payments can still be very competitive.
