Who was the sky commentator for that game? Bloody hell can't stand him. Any major moment to add drama he has to talk with a. full stop. after. every. word |

Dykes just needs to go despite apparently signing a new contract. Always on his heels, never anticipates a pass. Always arrives where the ball was about 2 seconds after it was there, seems to be even slower. For his size doesn't impose himself on defenders and basically wins nothing in the air. Couple of great crosses last night, one in particular from Anderson across the 6 yard box and where was Dykes. On the edge of the penalty area. He never makes a run for the player with the ball. Just runs alongside the defender making sure he isn't an option |

Dykes never gives the person with the ball an option. Just runs along side the defender rather than making a run I to space. Always seems to be a few seconds behind the play. His anticipation is awful. |

I was watching the game on TV so can only go by that but Dykes always arrives where the ball is after it has been there. Is his anticipation rubbish, the passes miss hit it is he running half arsed to where it's being played too. Cross in the box, arrives late, knocked down the line, arrives late. I personally would have taken him off at half time. When he can be partially bothered he is almost an asset to the team with his closing down, but I would rather he not close down and scored some goals |

And yet you seem to still like our company and come on here. Like others have said until the process is concluded then innocent until proven guilty. Not hypercritical in the slightest. To be called hypercritical by a fan of another team is nothing really. I would rather be called that than what a a section of the Millwall fans are known to be |

Thought he was having another very solid game. You can see that extra bit of class that he has. Always seems to have time on the ball, and doesn't rush. Couple of times where he could have passed it on, paused for a moment and then did an even better pass elsewhere. Doesn't just cross it into the box either and always aims for the space the player is running into or straight to them. Love his celebration for the first goal after crossing it for Field to score Noticed as well he, a lot of the time is the person who initiates the press on the opposition back four. Last night though Willock needed to come on sooner but had no clue who would come off. For maybe Smyth but with his pace can always create something out of nothing. |

That inter play towards the end was good to see. Wilock actually coming inside to beat players. A confident Wilock scores at least one of those chances Think Anderson could be very good for us. Committed and knows when to hold on to the ball and when to play it. That cut back for the goal. Didn't just put the ball in, he passed it to a player Dunne looks a better RB than CB. Those tackles at the end. Danny Maddix like At the moment though I think I prefer Colback over Field. Colback a bit more progressive in his passing. All in all, when we show the right attitude we can play a bit. |

I actually think it's time to drop Chair. I can't believe he hasn't been told he holds on to the ball too long. So many times he gets the ball, could do a simple pass to progress the play but instead slows the play down so he can then try and beat his man. When he does beat him, he then tries to do it again. He is very predictable at the moment. When he was dropped for that 1st half he changed the game, with his dynamism and approach play. He was changing it up the whole time. It's a strange one really. I don't think he has the pace to play out wide ( the way he is currently playing the position) but as a 10 he doesn't get the space he does out wide. I actually thought last night, the change to make was Chair coming off for Anderson and Hodge go out wide and Anderson play as the 10 |

I think also we might now see a bit more how Marti wants us to play. Maybe so far his plan has been diluted by 1) the skill of the players he has at his disposal and 2) the type of players he has. Frey might not be mobile but he has shown good movement in the box and good link up play. I think Marti like his midfield to be technically proficient but also mobile and energised. Hopefully these new additions who on the most part are experienced (apart from Hodge) will help bring our other players up a level. Andersen whilst not quick always found space and time, just by looking around him before the ball arrived and constantly moving. Simple things done well. Let's hope players like Chair who obviously has talent might see that you don't need to beat the same man 3 times when a simple pass can take multiple players out the game |

It seemed to be that Hayden was holding his position and Colback was rushing around and closing down. Can Field do that or does he have to be the one shielding? |

I thought Hodge lookes a lot like Chair but with a bit more about him in defence and and more strength. Also seems to know that sometimes better to pass the ball early. For me Chair still hold on to the ball too long and tries to do to much. Andersen looks like he has that bit of cunning and guile to open a defence. Hayden just strolled that game and a great addition. Not quite sure when everyone is fit who plays in the side. A nice problem to have though |

So who misses out now or we going back to a 433 with Field, Colback and Hayden when everyone available |
| Forum Reply | Chair in the Middle - Last Hope of Staying Up at 13:51 29 Jan 2024
I think the biggest problem with Chair at the moment is he is trying to do too much. Yes he is our most creative outlet but he tries to do too much and is predictable. The game where he came on as sub, he was superb because he did many different things. Early crosses, early passes, down the line, cutting inside etc So many times in recent games and yesterday where he thought he had to beat the man twice. He could go with the easy pass then run into space to receive the ball back. We have a new striker who looks useful (I know only YouTube clips) but how is he supposed to know when to make a run when Chair goes to cross and then cuts back in again or feints and goes the other way. It's one of the reasons Smyth made a such a difference in games when he has come on etc, get gets the ball, beats the man and gets the cross in |
| Forum Thread | Dykes playing as a 10 at 16:10 15 Jan 2024
What was everyone's thoughts on this yesterday? Thought he did ok, played between the lines and took up some good positions. Seemed to play with a bit more freedom not being the main striker and being the one expected to get the goals (in a strange way) |

What I like is that he has a bit of footballing intelligence, seems to be able to look after himself and isn't afraid to give a bit back. There was a couple of times where he went to take a quick throw in and just pushed the defender out the way. I wouldn't mind seeing him playing in the same team as Chair and Willock. Maybe in his more attacking midfield role or as a false 9 as I don't think he is a natural striker. He has shown he can win balls in the air and hold it up. So maybe him coming deep and linking play would work |

So does that mean Jack Russells and Poodles should be banned. Enclosed fields are used for all breeds of dogs. One near me has all kinds of dogs use it. Also it might be cos dog has anxiety issues. As already stated it can also be used by an owner who wants their dog to run around free without being hassled by idiots who can't control their dogs. [Post edited 31 Dec 2023 11:32]

Really hope we have a striker lined up. Doesn't have to be a goal scorer as such. Weigh in with a few and actually hold up the ball, pose a problem and bring others into play. Dykes isn't doing either and Armstrong tonight has shown he hasn't really developed his game. Not making easy decisions and execution bad at times. One point building up play and misplaces a 5 yard pass. He is a impact sub at the moment when game is stretched. Doesn't have the technical ability to hold it up well |
