I'm heading towards retirement, and I can't justify the Triple Lock and think it should be stopped. It was put in as a temporary measure in order to lift the state pension up to a meaningful level before moving back to being index linked. Tax credits and other benefits are available to those that need them (Something needs to be done about communicating this though as so many are left unclaimed)
But I'll be livid if it gets means tested and if over 45 years of taxes and NI don't provide me a state pension just because I've also done things right and saved, and invested to make up for people that could also have done so, but decided to piss it up the wall on alcohol and fags for most their lives. |

I wouldn't be surprised to see a Data Centre REIT grab it as long as the local Cadent gas mains can support the high pressure supply to something like an SOFC power solution. |

Liz Truss did for herself really, she was a car crash waiting to happen even before she got the conservative vote, I'm not entirely sure the press needed to do much there. And Rishi Sunak inherited a mess noone could turnaround.
Burnham taking over now still gives him three years, but he's massively constrained by the current debt levels, tax and cost of living burden on small/medium sized business and the bottom 60% of earners.
I'm no fan of Labour, but if there's anyone in the Labour Party that could turn it around it is him successfully taking policies that have turned Manchester around to the National level, without splurging more on welfare until the growth starts to pay for it. However he'd need a united labour party behind him, and unfortunately I don't see that happening.
Which ultimately will lead us with Reform who's tax policies make Lizz Truss' seem like a well though out and considered plan however attractive they may seem to some.
Mind you that assumes he'll win the by-election, which seems like a 40% shot at best, which will Leave Starmer in power for now, but a dead duck and unable to govern, with the most likely outcome he calls a snap election similar to Theresa May.
We then get Reform in early, and just watch as they completely tank the economy worse than Truss.

Our best teams, and periods with best return on value for players, also included bringing in experienced quality players at the end of their careers who were able to mentor others around them.
Unfortunately that model also brought in Mark Hately. |

On the counter, Chris Woods had zero games and was 19 when we brought him and stuck him straight in. He was pretty good for us, but probably peaked at Norwich and Rangers.
I feel sorry for Walsh. He really should have had 60+ games in lower league sides before this season, but has been so unlucky with the timing of injuries. |

Some people on this thread need to get a reality check.
Forming judgment on a 19 year old with a handful of minutes in men's football is a sorry indictment of the of the mentality of some of our fan base.
He, like Kolli, has shown meaningful progress this season and is worthy of our support.
Someone suggesting him not bagging one of his chances has ended our chances of the playoffs is laughable. There's plenty more obvious reasons for our not reaching the playoffs.
Sheer slack-mindedness of the sort that is going to continue this country's decline for the next decade or more. |

There's a player in there, and he's been unfortunate with injuries.
If he was back here he'd be 5th choice, and in reality given Jimmy's fitness record (cross-fingers, touch wood) there's realistically only one position he's challenging for an he's behind Edwards, Clarke-Salter, Cook.
Next season, with Cook gone most likely, I still think he'll have limited opportunity here unless we sell one of Jimmy (can't see that happening) or Clarke-Salter. I think Tylon Smith will most likely have more opportunity if he's not given a season long loan. |

Only if we had both Southampton and Wrexham still to play and win both and won all our remaining matches.
If you honestly believe 33/1 is good odds to finish top six you need to go back to school and retake maths. Assuming we can win our last 6 matches ( 5 wins and a draw will not be good enough) you'd be much better putting on an accumulator which would be about 500/1 given out remaining matches
Even betting all five-folds win combinations would give you better odds than 33/1 [Post edited 6 Apr 10:17]

I don't think its any one thing, I think its a confluence of several.
No1: Smyth instead of Saito on the left
No2: Consistent minutes from Kolli allowing Partnership with Kone to begin to evolve
No3: Morgan in the Madsen role. More time on the pitch and his consistency improving
No4: Vale consistent minutes on the right rather than as a 10 with limited options on the wings.
No5: Edwards to left centre half, great synergistic partnership with Jimmy

Hi point regarding getting results against top 8 sides is disingenuous.
whilst he's correct in that we've won more this season 3 vs 2 last season our overall record against the top 8 this season is 3wins, 10 losses, vs last season 2 wins, 8 draws, and only 6 losses.
I think most people would regard our results against top 8 is a step back, not a step forward. |

Noone's going to sign him in the close season without a consistent run of games proving his hamstring's are fully recovered.
Hamstrings a notoriously problematic once torn, especially in a player who has a history of posterior chain injuries which he does from last season. Given the setback in February when he was almost ready, I wouldn't be surprised if they give him longer and we don't see him until pre-season. |

Well we do currently need another Madsen, until the end of the season.
His opportunities to play have been hampered not only by Madsen's resurgence, buy also because JS continues to play two up top even without Burrell, which has taken the 8 position off the board.
He's now got an opportunity to gain some consistency with a run of games until the end of the season, but if we continue to play 2 up top and Madsen recovers fully next season, he will continue to have limited opportunities unless he can add that defensive side to his game that Madsen uncovered this season. |

I never bet against us, but I rarely bet on us when we are 'expected' to win.
The closest I've come to betting against us is selling my points position this season after Madson did his hammy vs Southampton. Team is built around him this season, and the season ended for me as soon as he did that. Can't see myself betting on us this season again unless Chair and/or Poku have proved their fitness over a run of games, and the team finds a backbone. |

I'm wondering whether the club have ever looked into replacing the roofing with Polycarbonate (UV-Stabilized), with a cost in the region of £3m to £6m for a ground our size?
Maybe someone better informed than I could explain why not. |
