Is Rowett the man to finally get Derby over the line? Interview
at 14:19:14

Really enjoy how annoyed Derby fans get at us pipping them that season, even if it's pretty much completely justified.

Fantastic stuff, a great guy who will forever be remebered as a key part of one of the great QPR teams. Had no idea his dad knew about Rangers – makes it all the more special. Definitely welcome back whenever he wants.

Hull still weighed down by Allam millstone — Opposition profile
at 13:50:17

Andre – as Clive has asked you a few times, please outline exactly where his factual inaccuracies are. Not liking something and claiming it's wrong are two different things.

And one dig, just because it's so wrong and so fundamentally misrepresents what it means to be a football club fan: changing the name of Hull City "wouldn't have made a shred of difference"? Can't believe you're a real supporter spouting that sort of nonsense.

Good luck to Hull this season, they deserve better than Allam.

They're not exactly shy.

The place is called La Chunga, and that's what half the people there are on, as well.

Survive or drop, appointing Ramsey is a no-brainer — column
at 14:10:04

Excellent stuff, Neil. Agree whol-heartedly with the assessment of Ramsey's approach.

Sadly, I can't see Fernandes doing anything but reverting to type and appointing the highest-profile out of work manager going in the summer.

The Vargas conundrum — column

Hmmm.. don't agree with a lot of the sentiment here. Vargas should've been given a run up front with Austin at some point this season.

QPR the perfect party guests once more — report
at 12:26:26

I'm quite reassured that Rangers fans on this site agree Little Old QPR are allowed to be criticised if they play like eleven men who've never heard of football, let alone play it to a professional standard. I've been shouted down numerous times this week by other Rangers, accused of 'not being a real fan' and been told Luke Shaw was brilliant against us, hence why we couldn't attack their poo defence.

Through the middle for Paul Furlong… - history
at 14:23:22

I would add Cisse scoring in the 88th minute against Stoke in the 2011-12 season to the list of great Rangers occasions. I wasn't at the Wigan game as I wasn't in the country that month in 2001 but the noise the Loft made when Cisse slammed that ball in was one of the loudest, most joyful sounds I've ever heard.

Johnson shines as QPR roll back the years — report

Got to agree with the 5 for LTC, though I can see he's fast becoming a splinter point for Rangers fans - those that see the undeniable talent and those that think he's too slow when under pressure.

An odd compulsion — preview
at 13:56:34

I was/am that fellow R in the Irish bar in Cannes in April and how Clive described it was essentially how it happened. I could add that just after Wigan equalised, one TV marketing person I know who was also there whispered to me with absolutely genuine concern as Clive slumped on the bar head in hands, "Is he going to be okay?". I think I was in something of a state of shock, so I didn't reply but instead staggered out on to the street, leaving Clive and our giant friend from Walsall together.

Does Mackie sale tally with QPR’s ‘right sort’ rhetoric?
at 14:32:19

Nov77: The point is other far less committed players were given second, third and fourth chances whereas Mackie does nothing but go on a bad run of form and shown the door. What's that going to do for the morale of players we actually want to support play like Faurlin and Derry?

Does Mackie sale tally with QPR’s ‘right sort’ rhetoric?
at 12:20:48

There's one common factor in successful modern football teams - common to United since 1992, Arsenal during their best PL years, Barcelona's Golden Generation and now Bayern Munich's European champions - they keep the personalities in the dressing room, regardless of form.

As Clive rightly points out, it's quite a difficult task to build squad morale if the most-respected, hard working and loyal players are being shipped out faster than John Terry can work his magic on 17 year-old in a Fulham Wetherspoons.

Maybe Mackie wasn't part of Redknapp's first team plans in the short term but that's no reason to get rid. A squad containing Mackie, Hill, Derry, Faurlin, (a happy) Taarabt, Dunne and Onuoha is starting to look like a squad that could create some camaraderie and the sort of siege mentality that Warnock instilled to get us promoted.

For a man once so close to the England job, Redknapp is doing a good impression of someone who not only hasn't managed a professional football team before but hasn't actually even met, well, anyone before.

Mackie’s best efforts in vain as Villa game slips away — full match report
at 11:06:11

Top stuff as always.

Two points I'd add: Boswinga's defensive play was embarrassing at times. Even Villa's inexperienced team immediately identified him tucking inside too close to Nelsen and leaving acres of space on the right, which they exploited non-stop in the first half. The other effect of this was that Benteke targeted Nelsen, who was basically forced to do two jobs. Later in the game, 'Arry tried to combat this by having Derry babysit Jose. Truly shocking for a professional defensive footballer.

The other thing follows on from Clive's insight of the fractured celebration after Mackie's goal. At full time, Hill, Nelsen and Traore were on their hands and knees like they'd just been relegated, while Taarabt looked to the sky in desperation. Besides Derry, who was shaking hands with the ref, the rest looked like they'd just bought a pint on milk on a lazy Sunday morning and couldn't care less.
