Are the FA planning on a fifty year World Cup Final celebration with the still surviving squad members of the two countries,England and (West) Germany,on July 30th? I see it`s a Saturday again,so a good day/weekend to have a commemoration with no football on other than friendlies.

The only mourning I've done since then was when we lost the semi-final on penalties in 1990

Announcing that the rest of the team get knighthoods would be a good gesture.

Yeah, you`re right Arfur,me and Colin Fielding, though we didn`t win the tickets as such. As you say,we got tickets for the three games at Old Trafford, but we only wanted to see Brazil. They played their three game at Goodison Park,so we never went, instead going to Butlins for our holidays with the rest of the lads and I gave my tickets to Chobber Strong. When we got back, the old lady said I had some mail,it was from the FA,saying that if I sent ten bob by the following Wednesday,I`d get a ticket for the final. Colin got the same letter,so we ummed and arred about it as we didn`t know then that England would definitely be in the final, they still had to play Portugal and the Krauts still had to play Russia in the two semis. Anyway,we had nowt else to do,so we thought,we might as well and the rest is history. The following Saturday,6th August,I went to watch United play a friendly against Celtic at Parkhead and on the way back on the charra, listened to the Ali-Brian London fight on the radio. Quite an historic week, more so that that Celtic side went on to win the European Cup the following May. What a team they were!!
