It is a fair point about the trialists though - hardly a fair reflection of your talents when you’re playing against a much-stronger side in a very weak side of your own.

He wasn't, but they've been around the same circuits, including Hull and will probably know each other quite well

I see this as a positive if he's brought on board again, with perhaps a coaching role included although that'd perhaps put Big Jim down the pecking order

He'd certainly be able to provide an insight into where things went awry last season

Interesting thought that , especially as I understand he already has his UEFA A License . It might represent a good starting point for him ?

McShane's been expressing an interest in coaching since he was in his early 20s, and did his badges well ahead of most pros with similar ambitions
