My all time favourite was the peanut Yorkie, unfortunately now discontinued. Has to be a starbar these days.

Chocolate ain’t chocolate anymore.

Check your labels…. “Flavour” means you’re not getting the cocoa content of when I were a lad times.

Always been partial to minty chocolates, It had to be a peppermint pattie as a kid, I'm sure that they used to be size of a hockey puck back in the sixties.
When I arrived in the UK I found Fry's peppermint creme, which became a favorite, along with after eights.
Now when I buy chocolate it tends to be Cote d'or milk chocolates.
When I last visited the states, and after eating British/European chocolates for so long, I had a Hershey's bar which was like eating a chocolate colored candle.

When you reach the place beyond thoughts, the only thing you'll find is love and the only purpose of life becomes to ease the suffering of others.

See recently on Dairy Milk.

Can only be called Chocolate by the finest margin in UK, cant be called Chocolate in EU

Cadbury Dairy Milk isn't banned from being called chocolate, but recent recipe changes (adding palm oil/fillers) and rising cocoa costs have lowered its cocoa solids to 20%, right at the UK/Ireland legal minimum, causing confusion and leading some brands to use "chocolate flavour" or "chocolatey" labels, though Dairy Milk still meets the UK's 20% cocoa/20% milk solids rule and sells as "milk chocolate". The confusion arises because the EU requires 25% cocoa, so UK-style Dairy Milk would need a "family milk chocolate" label there, but in the US, it's fine at 10% cocoa.

Lindt salted caramel is to die for.

Can’t eat Cadbury’s any more. It tastes like cheap cooking chocolate.

Used to work in the chocolate industry and as has been much publicised the recipes on lots of brands have been cheapened down the years.

But it’s more that you’ve got older and your tastebuds have changed. Some things taste worse, others taste better (wine, whisky, dark choc).

But they have got worse and that is to a very small extent on me (more the crappy pricing and product weights than the recipe).

Leicester has an independent chocolate shop (Cocoa Amore in the Lanes, if anyone is going to the away game and plans on being in the city centre beforehand...) and they do amazing bars. The only trouble is, its quite expensive (£5 easily a go) but it also reflects the quality of the ingredients you are buying.

As an aside, they also do chocolate making workshops which are fun to do.

I agree with wispa in terms of your classic bars - still great.

Those Lindt chocolate balls are unbelievable though - I think the blue ones shade it but they're all winners imho

I ordered my wife a Lindt ball Advent calendar this year. You can choose up to 6 different flavours that get randomly put in.

The dark bounties from the fridge are fantastic. I always think it is a shame that the 'heroes' or whatever Christmas one it is that has the mini bounties) should have some mini plain ones.
