It was an ideal scenario for the last 5 minutes or so today when as expected Scunthorpe started launching balls forward - Calvin was monumental and cleared every one of them. We all know he's great in the air - whether its too late in the day to convert him to a defender ? Who knows.

Its a BRILLIANT goal to cap a BRILLIANT start by Rochdale - Don Goodman 26/08/10

Why did Keith never do this?

Too stubborn.

Always said Calvin is our best defender.

Agreed, he's a huge asset when the opposition are launching desperation balls into the box and from set pieces. It's a bit like sending a centre half up top to ping balls up too when chasing a game, he might look good in small bursts but playing 90 minutes there is a completely different proposition. Would Calvin still be as effective against smaller strikers and teams that like to play the ball on the deck? I remember his disastrous cameo at left back last season, when he looked completely out of his depth. Maybe it's an option that can be explored in the off season (if he's still here) or if we were safe mid table, but it's not the time to start experimenting now.

I’m sure I suggested this ages ago but was mocked. Even suggested it to his dad recently at Peterborough.

I'm not sure Calvin going to the back was a tactical choice. I thought Ntlhe came off with an injury after that collision in the air. If I'm right I hope he's ok because he's been pretty good for us recently. Calvin did do a job there though and does have some decent defensive attributes.
