DY Sporting

At every game we attend - in many cases many miles from home - in all weathers and sometimes with scant picture worthy moments he is always there capturing the very best of Rochdale AFC, both on and off the pitch. To whom do I refer - DY Sorting of course. Always smiling, always pleasant, always optimistic and just in case we take him for granted take a bow sir - thank you - where would we be without you?!

The Exiles are back in town…..
at 20:04 23 Mar 2024

A most enjoyable day really well organised by Ian and superbly implemented by Scott and Murray - a big thank you!
As for the game, being charitable the weather/ pitch didn’t help but not the most exhilarating of games - however the proud record of the Exiles continues. We have never sponsored a home game and been on the losing side - for nearly 20 years!
It keeps the season interesting- see you all at Southend….

Will we maintain our proud record of never seeing the Dale lose at home, which must go back decades? Let us hope so!
Checked into the new Hampton in the town centre- great to see quality investment in the town - and who should be there to ‘welcome’ us none other than George Galloway. Sign him up Ian as we confidently expect to see him at the game tomorrow……

A lovely lady - we often used to see her in the frozen outposts of East Anglia and the South East, after long journeys always bright and cheerful. It was lovely to see her enjoying the football, and the rare success, in the Keith Hill era.
Sincere condolences to the family - we agree 'a true Dale legend'

Exiles Saturday

Undefeated in nearly 20 years we reckon - the team have apparently offered to pay our petrol for the remaining home matches! Not only did they play well, they showed real determination and team spirit. Hope is still alive……..

Exiles Saturday
at 09:20 27 Feb 2023

A number of us are looking forward (we think) to attending this annual fixture on Saturday. We have never, in all the years this has been running, seen the team lose at home. Hopefully we will not break the run this year! It is of course versus Stevenage and ironically a number of us were at the Stevenage away fixture last year and this year. Their improvement under the dreadful Evans has been impressive, but let’s hope their recent poor run continues on Saturday!
As always a big thank you to Ian and the Trust for organising things

Colchester Utd v Rochdale
at 21:19 20 Sep 2022

Big news down here is the sacking of Wayne Brown after Colchester's defeat on Saturday, normally managers are sacked after we beat their team not before! Although I seem to think that happened last year as well?
After tonight's victory hope springs eternal, but after watching the matches at Gillingham and Stevenage it is tempered by the reality of the quality of our squad.....

We don’t just need a new manager- we need a miracle worker! After witnessing the players at both Gillingham and Stevenage they are individually some of the lowest quality of player I have seen wearing the Rochdale shirt in over 60 years of supporting the club, and that is saying something!
Even at this early stage I fear the National League beckons, but I sincerely hope I am wrong......

James - you are an absolute star and often pose the questions many of us think about. We need a ‘broad church’ on this forum and tolerance of others views honestly expressed.

Brierley is undoubtedly a prospect for the future, but to me Kelly is more experienced and physically more up to the current ‘battle’. No reason however that they can’t play 70/30 in most matches.

Agreed- on Tuesday he was the only member of the Dale team who looked like someone who thought of passing the ball forwards and setting up our front runners. To me, despite some of his horror passes, he is the only real ‘footballer’ in midfield. I hope that he gets a decent run in the team as our playmaker but he needs players around him to do the ‘dirty work’!

Yet more great photos from DySporting from yesterday's game - he really captures the atmosphere well. Always there, always taking great photos, always cheerful and happy to say hello - despite some of the football he has to watch. Well done sir!

6’9” but doesn’t command his area - bizarre but true, ask I pswich fans. I remember him playing against us for Gillingham, he wasn’t anywhere near as good as we thought he would be when we saw him!

Back home after a long quiet journey home - we concluded that at times living in Suffolk and supporting the Dale isn’t such a bad thing! At least today nobody can blame the pitch.........

Sat in The George in Wanstead having lunch - driven down from Suffolk and then - hopefully- a couple of stops on the tube. Let’s hope Matt Done repeats his heroics of a few years ago, but without the sending off this time!

We have spent the evening reading our programmes - what a great read! In comparison to many away programmes TVOS is much better- well done Mark and all the contributors.
It also made me realise that I was in the crowd back in 1969 - the last time Barrow visited Spotland. What a team we had in those days…..,
