Championship Table 2011/12 09:41 - Apr 15 with 820 viewsSaintNick

Just had a quick peak at the Championship table in 2012 when we last got promoted.

We went up in second place with 88 points, Reading were Champions with 89.

West Ham were 3rd on 86 and Cardiff had the final play off spot on 75 points.

Compare that with this year were the top two are already on 89 & 88 & Leeds have 87, Norwich in 6th already have 71.

The dichotomy of this season could be that the much derided Russell Might fail to get automatic promotion despite getting more points than the much loved Nigel Adkins.

I think that confirms what we all know. The top 4 are streets ahead of everyone else this season.

Poll: Has the Ross Stewart deal already paid off as Nick says?

and the Championship clubs that were promoted are streets behind the rest of the PL. It shows the huge gap that is only getting wider (and what an exceptional job Ipswich have done).

If we aren't promoted this season, we risk becoming more and more Championship standard and less and less PL standard.

"The dichotomy"

Are you trying to let us know you had a decent education?

All managers get stick over time.

Adkins used to infuriate many with his never changing post-match comments of

"We will go away, do a debrief and control the controllables. etc etc..."

Ultimately he will (rightly) be looked on as a great as he got us promoted twice. But his methods were often questioned at the time.

Poll: Does anybody think Saints can get promoted this season?

As well as back to back promotions of course, of which ipswich seem to be getting fantastic plaudits about now (and they haven't even done it yet), only to be replaced by Poch!

I thought it was something to do with a bed delivery man from Wales…

Poll: Which manager would you prefer Saints to have?
