I suspect that Mr Still won’t be going anywhere soon. 11:13 - Nov 2 with 2644 viewssaintmark1976

Look at the facts from the owners point of view :-

1. The Guy who owns 80% of the club allegedly has financial problems to the tune of £250 million.

2. The other owner with 20% appears to be nowhere to be seen.

3. The club’s director of football is suggested to be head hunted by a major Italian club.

4. The club invested ( not sure if that’s the correct word ) £50 million in players during the last window.

5. The team is three wins and a draw away from the sixth placed team with nearly a third of the season completed, so promotion whilst not impossible, appears to be very unlikely.

6. With the quality of the squad assembled, even with Mr Still’s obvious current ineptitude, there is every likelihood that the team will finish lower mid table and just about avoid relegation.

Given the above, what possible benefit to the owners is there in replacing Mr Still given the additional cost to them in so doing ?

In summary, this season from a fans perspective is over and I fully expect the owners to now tough it out until next season, and in the upcoming Summer they will probably sell any decent players left and thus attempt to make a profit.

I genuinely hope I’m wrong but that’s how I see it. Other opinions are of course welcome.

Agree, i said a while back I think the Board will 'tough it out'.
They are so deep in their bunker that they have actually lost reality of what is going on.
Probably have an alternative XG league table that they are working on and we are top.

The 250m is a red herring. Solak lost control of his business in a legal dispute. He did not lose the 250m that was awarded to him in a separate settlement. It is what BC Partners owe him for the controlling stake they bought from him that they then used to throw him out. Obviously they don't get that stake for free and a court decided that the value according to the deal meant he was owed 250 for it.

We don’t need to speculate.

It took a determined fans campaign to shift Jones.

It took being 5-0 down at half time to shift Martin.

Selles and Juric they allowed to see out the seasons!

They have no f*cking idea how to either hire or fire managers.

Thanks for the additional information.

So in broad brush terms, he lost one of his businesses and the current owners were told to pay him £250 million compensation.

Has the £250 million now been paid to him ?

No idea, but if he needed cash flow he would be able to borrow against it.

He still owns 36% to 42% of the business which he could also sell, but BC Partners own 55% and they wanted to get him out of the management team, which they've now achieved.

But it wouldn't cost them anything if they replaced WS with Adam Lallana.
They might have to increase Lallana's salary to encourage hime to take on a thankless task.
I'm not saying that I'd like to see AL in charge but right at this moment anything is better than what we currently have.
To be honest nobody could do any worse than WS.

I think you would find that it would cost them Grim, simply because they would have to settle Still’s contract if they sacked him.

Could put him on gardening leave I suppose but would still need to pay him.

As for Lallana taking over. Personally I’d rather continue with Still given the way Adam left us for Liverpool.

They are making money. All is well. The "football club" is just a front. Still will stay. Changing the manager hasn't worked before, Why should it this time?

Only replace Will Still with someone better.
It’s that simple.
Unfortunately Sport Republic continually employ crap managers.

It’s Lallana’s job.

"Unfortunately, the start to this season has been a disappointment and, despite our strong desire to give the head coach time and matches to find an improvement, we have reached a point where we must make a change."

Putting WS on Garden Leave would not cost us any more than it is at the moment.
At least if he was sacked he couldn't do any more damage.
The bonus being we wouldn't have to tolerate his Boring / Bland pre match & post match interviews.
I know it's difficult to be upbeat about the performances & results at the moment but it would help if we had a coach that had a positive attitude.

Even worse, Still says that he “doesn't have a fix“ for his team in a post-match interview yesterday.

He was clueless from the start & even more so 13 games in.

We really need a tough talking disciplinarian to shake the players up but just like centre forwards, where do you get them from. ?

Still didn’t bring a coaching team with him so it’s just a case of paying him off. The likely scenario is Paul Trollope who managed before will be appointed until the end of the season with Lallana as his Assistant. Trollope will improve things enough to keep us in the league. Still has to go. He is completely out of his depth.

There is absolutely no point in keeping Still on in that role. It will all end in relegation because it's painfully obvious he's lost the dressing room completely and because he won't fu cking listen, he's lost any support that might be forthcoming from Trollope or Lallana.
Just tell him to go home and await further instructions in May next year.
