Saturday - WBA away
Saturday 6th - Oxford home
Tuesday 9th - Portsmouth home

Two months ago I would have expected 7 points out of 9.
Now, being realistic can we hope for 4.
(lose to West Brom, and win/draw the next two at home).

Thoughts?

We will need to win both home games or we will be in deep poo poo.

I expected us to beat QPR and Derby but we got nothing.

All the problems over the last 3-4 years have caught up with us and we are now paying for it.

I was full of optimism after the summer window, that's now totally evaporated. I really fear for us this year unless Matos can turn things around and that's a massive ask unless he can actually get us playing like a team.

And the rest of the season
Every game is or should be a cup final
There is a toxic cloud that vet the club that needs blowing away
It’s been there for a few seasons and it’s why folk are staying away in their thousands as most don’t enjoy losing and being bored
It’s no fun

I think they’re going to be really tough games. None of those teams are enjoying much success, but I was really disheartened watching last nights game. If they carry on in that vein of form it’s not inconceivable they could lose all three games.

I’m going to stick my neck on the block say 4 points.

I would expect us to get 6.
If we get 0 then we are in a real mess

We are all rather shellshocked to see us as we are given the pre season "positivity" which now seems misplaced.
too good to go down is the single most dangerous illusion and should be banned out of any conversation .
We are physically weak and don't have the skill or pace to compensate.A shot at goal is a treat .We are that pitiful.
When we do get into the box and actually shoot,we can score but rather than go down this route we stroke the ball sideways to the touchline wherupon our player loses the ball.
Im sure Matos has seen this and will address it.
The very first thing he has to do is make us harder to beat.

Ill repeat ,even as an improper fan ,we face a tough task to stay up. We've had a toxic cloud around for too long.
I read our players are "happy" so they can fix this .

Totally agree with the too good to go down point. Of course we are not. That’s been demonstrated.

But what’s also been demonstrated this season is that we can play an awful lot better than we have done recently. Not top 6, maybe not top half but better than bottom 3.

Matos needs to get the confidence back up mixed with a new tactical approach and we’ll be ok. Based on our last 4-5 games we are going to be bottom by May so let’s hope he can prove his worth.

Ignoring the WBA game where a point will be a bonus we must win the next 2 home games to give us some breathing space especially as the opposition are in the same mess as ourselves at the moment

Morning
The preseason showed we had possible issues. Those games were dismissed as meaningless which indicates complacency of thought .
We were mostly confident of a better season but now we are upset whether one is able to pop along to a game or one who lives thousands of m iles away.
We are all hurting
Personally,I feel the Oxford and Pompey games are key indicators .
Win both and we get matters back on track. 4 points would be ok.
Lose both and we are screwed IMO.

Wrexham ,we were hopong, would be a false dawn, but they have now consolidated and look possible of a play off . They could go to PL.Imagine that and we go down and cradiff go up. That to me is horrific a thought but its possible .
It should be the fear factor that drives us on and fight every game and not be afraid to spill blood. Nobody put themselves out v Derby and nobody got booked .

Time for a coffee and croissant. Enjoy this day

I had the same bad thought about Wrexham, Cardiff and us this morning. Both are doing well whereas we are not.

I’m pretty confident that we’ve got enough resources to survive this year so long as Matos has what it takes then we’ll be ok. If he doesn’t, well…!

One of my biggest concerns is teams have done their homework and worked us out and know how to easily score against us. Sit back and defend, when we push the full backs up play the ball behind and put the ball into the box. A far post goal scored in both our last two matches.

Who have we currently got in the coaching setup up with experience of the Championship. How teams set up, how they react to going in front or behind, who are the key players in each team what are their strengths and weaknesses. Yes Matos will gain this experience, but with two games a week how much time will he have to gain this knowledge before matches and know how to set us up.

It may just be me over thinking things and we may be fine, but I am very concerned.

We wont get relegated this season with the squad we have, with some proper guidance and direction we can climb back into the top half, not good enough to get near the play offs IMO despite this being a bang average league this season.

Plenty of games left fortunately to fix this system and get the players switched back on. The vast majority of goals we concede have been individual errors which can be fixed with good coaching.

We have conceded far too many goals from poor marking at the far post recently - Eom on Tuesday, Samuels Smith on Saturday. Add to that Cabango and Burgess chipping in with a few clangers and that has been the difference between picking up points and losing (probably lots more I could mention here too).

Matos could do worse than shake it up a bit for a couple of games and bench the poor performers:
Out with Vig, Ronald, Cabango, Eom, Key, Cullen
In with Fisher, Casey, Inoussa and Widdell, Yalcouye

We are undoubtably at our lowest point currently so the only way is up, underperforming players need to get their hunger back and fight for the badge which is why I would drop them now and change the dynamic of the team with a bit more hunger and energy.

WBA are really struggling too and from what I know will be sacking Mason on Saturday if they lose, we can get something out of this if we show up. Ronald surely must be dropped if we are to have a chance, Its been a long time since I have seen such a poor winger play for the Swans, if there is an offer on the table in January I would bite their hands off. Key unfortunately just isn't suited to a back 3, he needs to play as a traditional right back in a back 4. Unlike Ronald he does work his socks off and IMO plays for the badge, just doesnt fit with our current style but could be decent at this level in the right team and set up. Vig needs a shake up too, Fisher hasn't done anything wrong this season so deserves a chance.

Out with Vig, in with Fisher??????

Are you for real.

Vig has his faults but my God, Fisher is not the answer. I can only hope Vigoroux does not get injured otherwise we will find out.

He isn't the long term answer 100% but it would do hirm no harm to sit out a couple of games to gee him up a bit and get the juices flowing again. Not suggesting for one minute Fisher is the better keeper but Vig defo needs a shake, nothing wrong with keeping players on their toes and competition for places open rather than the stale situation we currently have.

No one is too good to be dropped or switched atm with the exception of probably Galbraith.

Fisheries an appalling keeper who us the worst example of the Martin legacy
In Cup games he’s excelled himself thus making him now average
That he lad a long contract makes it worse
Vig is clearly confidence shot , hardly surprising considering the pitiful excuse for defending by his full backs and CH
My God, fans really have been traumatised even the proper ones

Ok, in principle I see your point. Unfortunately, Fisher is not good enough. He played better than expected in the cup games admittedly but I wouldn’t trust him as a league starter unless absolutely necessary.

Vig is just suffering from appalling defending in front of him and yes, doesn’t command his 6 yd area as well as he could but he’s still one of the best in the Championship in my opinion.

Appalling is a bit strong dont you think?

Anyone that has played over 100 professional matches is hardly appalling. He is good enough to tep in and give Vig a breather for a few games which will do him no harm whatsoever and in my opinion will not weaken us too much based on what I have seen recently.

Vig is not playing well enough to be untouchable so why wouldnt you give him a chance whilst assessing your squad, hes played well enough this season to get his chance.

With regards to his performances during Martin's reign I think most keepers would have been traumatised playing that type of nonsense out from the back.

People should see things from Vigs perspective
A right back that allows any wide player enough to cross by running alongside him and who can’t won’t or doesn’t defend his post
This is under 12 stuff
Two CHs who often fail to clear the ball away with commitment and a midfield that is often left for dead
His confidence is shattered and we are ruining him
Hex wouldn’t be the first

Meanwhile, I hope Matos looks at players by some not ready , whatever that means

We have regressed but can get it back and quickly

Come on Vitor

Mate the fisher debate went on here for years.
I was his biggest defender here but the guy loves a bloody howler.
Viggy is an international 1/2 fisher iS A good number 2 on number 1s wages.

Fisher is not the answer Viggy gets pulled he loses confidence then never comes back again at the level that he has demonstrated.
Keepers are funny animals that need to be handled with care.
Fisher can’t play with his feet and he is no donnuruma so let’s be sensible here 😂 please 🙏.

All opinions welcome mate. I guess my thoughts behind giving Vig a rest are down to giving him a shake as his reluctance to leave his line does put more pressure on the defence and in my opinion is contributing to our nervousness at the back. He has his own faults as do the defence in front of him clearly, both combined at the moment makes for nervous viewing.

A paramedic would struggle to find a pulse in this team at the moment so changes are desperately needed even if that means taking a step back to allow us to move forward.

Vigouroux is currently ranked 13th of the keepers in the league not good not bad just bang average. He has saved us in games this season and has made mistakes mainly because he has too much to do. It's not just the defence, the players protecting the defence should be doing better. Matos in his press conference reiterated that we must create a team, this doesn't necessarily mean playing your best players. Going back 10 years or so when we were competing with the best, we didn't have the best players but we had a bloody good team.
