My top 5 most-played acts were

Charlatans
Circa Waves
Reytons
Wolf Alice
Kooks

Seeing 3 of them over the next 7 days.

First up was Wolf Alice at the O2 tonight, on my way back home now after seeing them.

Then seeing Reytons at Wembley on Saturday and The Charlatans at Camden next Wednesday.

Good times.

Poll: Would you take going down to League 1 if it meant new owners coming in?

Death Grip Kids is a banger TBF.

You cannot reason a person out of something they were not reasoned into.

Disappointing not to hear a name check for Dublin's finest...The Fatima Mansions.

Their 1985 offering " Only Losers Take The Bus " is a brutal, but realistic, assessment.

If anyone was thinking of asking...yes, I take the bus many times every week.

Is that because the Hythe Ferry isnt working at the moment, I remember Fatima Mansions, I didnt have any of their stuff but I quite liked the band Cathal Coughlan was in before, Microdisney and had a couple of their albums back in the mid 1980's

Nice coverage of the "alternative music scene"

Here's one for you...Hank Wangford..stalwart of the London pub scene a thousand years ago.

His seminal ditty was " I ain't married but the wife is". That title went on to win the accolade of the worst chat up line of 1987 as awarded by some long defunct publication.

Hank Wangford was a name I knew but never saw him or heard any of his music.

According to Amazon Music, my top five artist 'played' this year are:

1) W. H. Lung
2) James
3) Bodega
4) Home Front
5) The Holy

The new Home Front album is top drawer - fingers crossed they come over from Canada and do a few UK dates / gigs. Won't ever get to see The Holy now as they have split up (and even if they did a show would likely be in their home country - Finland).

I have only seen videos of their live performances, they look to have a lot of energy live, certainly on my list of bands to see live in 2026

Proper old school 'work ethic' band. Tour lots, promote their own material and do what they can to reduce costs to their fans. They normally do Southampton every couple of years. Caught them at Papillon this year and Joiners back around 2021. My mate trundled up to the Garage (Islington) a month or two back but I declined having seen them, and it being a bit far on that occasion.....
