They've won a major trophy a lot more recently than we have, beating Man City in the 2013 FA Cup Final. (In terms of suffering and underachievement it's hard to beat being a Saints' fan). [Post edited 10 Feb 12:46]

| Will Still set to be appointed Wigan manager on 13:31 - Feb 10 with 596 views | HytheFerrytales | I can't stop thinking how a recent meeting of the Wigan FC Board must have played out. Chairman:: What we need men, is a leader, a man with a track record of unparalleled success at this level, a man with charisma and charm whose technical and coaching skills are impeccable who can, and will, lead this once mighty club back to where it belongs at the very pinnacle of the game in this country. That man has been identified and he accepts the challenge. That man is Will Still Board Members::Praise the Lord and let joy be unconfined..Make mine a G and T, barman. | | | |

You make a fair point DD, when I said recently, I was thinking more of the last 5 seasons. Things started off OK for them with promotion back to the Championship in 21/22 but the wheels fell off the following season as they finished 24/24 so finished up back in League One. A 12th placed finish in 23/24 was followed by a 15th placed finish last season and now 22nd this season. Regarding the suffering of being a Saints fan over the last few seasons, I feel your pain for sure⦠

Things didn't work out for him here, but he's picked himself up and he's ready to take on a fresh challenge. If you've been there, you'll know what it's like to reach the end of The Road to Wigan Pier.
