5 Things Nick seemed not to notice at Fulham 11:57 - Jan 3 with 2773 viewssaints__fan__73

1. We're on the road to relegation.
2. The club has been horribly mismanaged for the past 5 or 6 seasons
3. We have the worst squad we've had since returning to the PL.
4. Our new owners are utterly clueless and have spent what little money we do have on a bunch of kids with no hope of keeping us up.
5. If we need Academy players we would do better to concentrate on our own ones (who won the PL South title last season) rather than obsessing over other club's academies.

Glad to see that after 9 years your predictions are finally coming true after 3 changes of owner, 4 top 10 finishes and a Cup Final, plus two FA Cup semi finals, when I look back I realise just how horrendous is has been

Unfortunately I would have to agree with SF_73. The shipwreck is holed below the relegation line.

The club's business model is as much use as the one being used for the country's public services

The last 5 seasons we've finished

17th
16th
11th
15th
15th

You should look back and so how horrendous it's been. We've won less games of football than any other league team out of the 92.

All the time you have done nothing but defend the incompetent owners.

And now we are going down...

Well the previous owners kept us in the Premier League and now we have new ones.

Im not sure what you expect, look at the Leaguein the period that you mention, no team outside of the big 6 managed to sustain a top 10 placing beyond a short period , look at West Ham, Wolves, Burnley for instance.

I expect more than what they are giving us Nick. We had ambition and a plan when we first came back to the PL and finished in the top half numerous times and got to Europe twice.

Yes West Ham and Wolves are having poor seasons but they have good ones in past few seasons, it's not year after year of doing no more than trying to stay up.

The club is in a self-inflicted mess. It's a shame you aren't able to accept that.

I'm not normally one to do negative, i've mostly thought in the last few years we've been bang average in a weak league.

That said having now seen every team in this league i don't see three worse sides, and if i'm honest i struggle to point out two.

I think manager aside this is the season we drop, the squad isn't good enough and we ditched Ralph too late to make a difference.

I hope and want to be wrong, especially as various people i know will lose their jobs as a result, but i very much doubt i will be.

For a long time those that have run the club have been content to invest just enough to finish a good season of 17th or a little above.
Trouble is, a bad season for us means does not mean lower table obscurity, but a 18th to 20th.

The crying shame is that it is the little guys that take the pain when clubs get relegated.

No £30 cap in the championship so it's going to be more expensive to do away games...

Think you are right,Frannie.

Trying to stay in the Premiership on the cheap will catch you out eventually, this has been coming for a while now.

I await speculation on numerous players to keep us interested that most likely will go to other clubs.

What really galls me is choosing a manager with no top class experience to rescue us from relegation, that's just incompetence.

or maybe they are looking to get relegated to reduce player wage cost

These days I'd rather put £30 worth of fuel in the car than be tortured at St. Marys.
You couldn't keep me away from the Dell and there were some pretty bleak days there too,but now I cant justify the cost.

Player cost or not if we go down it's the normal folk that work at the club who lose their jobs sadly.

Not to mention all the businesses that rely on football footfall losing money too.

I'm one of the first to say i prefer the championship but it's ultimately much worse for the city and does mean job loses too.

How is treading water and not progressing good? We've no hope nor aspiration, going down will be a positive thing for us and for the league, we offer the league nothing and I want to go into a weekend with a hope of winning, that is all a club of our size has, we're a low aspiration club and we deserve to go down.

The previous owner and manager oversaw a steady decline in the quality of the playing squad, and the chickens are now coming home to roost.

Lack of investment might have been an issue with the last owner, but Sport Republic have at least splashed out some cash on players. The trouble is that Sports Republic's plan, to paraphrase Captain Blackadder, is boll*cks. It was crazy of them to think that Ralph could turn a load of untried Man City/Chelsea reserves and inexperienced players from abroad into a team capable of competing in the Premier League. It was sheer lunacy to go into the season without a recognised goalscorer. And now, due to some totally unfathomable reason, they've appointed a manager whose tactics would be more at home on Milbrook Rec. If Jones goes then so should the idiots who sanctioned all of the above.
