Not sure how she managed it but my young Staffie has managed to lose one of her claws. Out for a walk the other day and she suddenly started limping, had a good look and the "nail?" Was at a funny angle, last night it just came off.
She isn't whimpering or anything, she is moving around fine albeit with a very slight limp, but she does seem a bit down in the dumps.
Advice on the net seems to be keep it clean and just keep an eye on her? Or is a trip to the vets in order? Quick look on Google seems to show that this is quite a common thing? |  | | |  |

I've hunted with dogs all my life, losing a nail is a fairly common occurrence, you've already been given good advice "keep an eye on it and keep it clean"
Unless you want to pay ££££££ to the vet for the same advice. |  |

When my Jack first lost her dew claw, she bled out a while, so decided to take her to the vet. All they did was clean it up, give some cream to prevent infection and sent us on the way £60 lighter.
The cream they gave was £20 cheaper online, and since then my dog has torn several claws off by her excitable antics, and I have treated her myself, without the fuss. My advice, just keep the area covered for a while, and this can be a pain in the arse too I know, and keep it clean, it grows back quickly. The advice is sound from the internet there in my eyes, and will save you forking out on something that will have no detriment doing yourself. |  |

Definitely not worth paying a vet over unless the wound starts to look a bit infected. Otherwise the advice is fine. Keep it as clean as you can and chances are it'll heal itself. |  |

If I lost a finger nail I wouldn't come on here crying. I would man up and get on with things. I stand by my answer. This country needs dog licence bringing back. To many plebs and chavs with dogs. They can't look after themselves let alone an animal. 50 quid should do it and 100 for bull dogs and Rottweilers. | |
