Favorite UK city? on 20:24 - May 3 with 896 views | morningstar | On another note, i had to travel to Newport today, and under the circumstances thought it best to go by train. Apart from the less said about Newport the better, I was truly stunned by the approach to Cardiff station. For all it's investment you'd think the locals and Cardiff council would take a bit more pride in their City, I felt as if i was entering a shanty town! Rows of run down houses with old mattresses and rubbish thrown over garden walls onto the side of the tracks and left to rot. They may well get everything, but they deserve fvck all the dirty smelly bastads!

| Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. |

Favorite UK city? on 20:55 - May 3 with 810 views | perchrockjack | I d willingly put lifey and lady lifey up here and spend a week taking through what Liverpool offers and why it's a major cruise destination . It ain't just Beatles . Liverpool s role in slavery trade ,shipping ,Arts, Architecture ,Medicine is pre eminent and evidenced in the museums here . Chuck in a world renowned tropical medicine school and a top red brick university and more listed buildings than anywhere outside London plus a world famous waterfront that is accessible to visitors ... It goes on and on Give it up Rog ... Pross stayed in an expensive Hotel and loved it there Jamie just hates Robbo and anything remotely connected

Favorite UK city? on 18:30 - May 3 by monmouth | Aye, except Liverpool probably doesn't even make the top 100 of greatest cities in the world whereas London makes the top 5. |
Well, to be fair, Perch's original post only claimed Liverpool was a "great" city and nothing about top 100 or top 5. So, without having run all the numbers yet, I'd agree (and did) with what he said. It is also my favorite UK city, which is what the thread's about. Gower and Perch have done a good job explaining why, and it's okay to feel differently. But London is cool too, I just have never had as much fun traversing it as I have in Liverpool. It's just a bit too spread out for me, with too many secluded (i.e. FFUKKINGG RICH) areas, and I've found it a bit stale to be honest. But niceties aside and in keeping with the current spirit of the thread, I believe you said Cardiff, so ffukk off you Bluebird scum. (wink)

Good stuff Darran. But quick question: did you enjoy your time there?
Favorite UK city? on 09:00 - May 4 with 645 views | perchrockjack | He stayed in the Hard Days Night hotel which is city centre and rooms based on Beatles artipfscts . Stunning but expensive hotel I always point out this great city has many dark sides but given the relentless jibes from people in dead villages with equally moribund minds ,I feel it's worth redressing the balance . For someone from Swansea to diss Liverpool as the pits of the world is laughable really . It was the second city of the Empire and has a higher profile worldwide than the likes of Bristol ,so loved on here . I don't share the love of London either . Massive world city , incredible culture but simply too much Contd...

Don't disagree, Rich. Always had a soft spot for cities built on heavy industry and/or docks. Apart from Cardiff, obviously.
