Your best derby day memory? on 10:03 - Jan 11 by WarwickHunt | Dopey cûnt should ask himself where the huge police presence actually were after the match... Terrorising families shopping in Oxford Street still appears to be one of their finest moments. However, I seem to remember an incident outside the Queen’s...😂 |
I can remember that Oxford Street incident in 91. Very unpleasant. No police. 100s of Cardiff slapping random shoppers about. Ugly stuff. I made a quick exit around the corner onto Whitewalls and into the reception of the Dolphin Hotel. | | | |
Your best derby day memory? on 15:41 - Jan 11 with 598 views | theloneranger | My first away derby match at Ninian Park was at the end of the 1964/65 relegation season when we were hammered 5-0, and 2 great Swansea boys gave us a right stuffing that day. Ivor Allchurch scored a hat trick and John Charles scored 2. My next match and favourite derby was almost 12 months later in the Welsh Cup. We were 3-0 down, and then Cardiff's Don Murray got sent off in the 2nd half for butting Jimmy McLaughlin. I can remember Herbie scoring a late equaliser to make it 3-3 and take the match into extra time, and the Swans winning 5 -3. The Welsh Cup Final 1969 2nd leg at Ninian Park was I believe the main starting point for all the aggro to come over the next 50 years. We'd lost the 1st leg down the Vetch 3-1 and eventually lost this match 2-0 with Tosh scoring a few goals, but it was the aggro inside and outside the ground that stood out. There was fvck all separating the fans that Tuesday night, other than the police who were caught cold. We were fighting like fvck inside the ground and a few coaches were smashed up outside also ... But it was the fighting in the station Ninian Park Halt that stood out. We were outnumbered that night, but quite a few blueburds done a runner up the rail track 😂 I won't pass further comment on the other derbies I've been to, as they've been covered very well by other posters. I'll finish by saying that over 50+ years I've been part of and seen some real sickening football hooliganism, but it's history and that's where it should stay!! [Post edited 11 Jan 2020 15:43]
