People will still call it the Colston Hall though the same as everyone still calls the Hammersmith Odeon the Hammersmith Odeon.

There’s a pub Carmarthen way called the Polyn, they changed the name to the New Inn. Everyone still called it the Polyn, so after a while they changed it back to the Polyn.

Saw Chuck Berry in the Colton Hall early 60's. I was a mere teenager earning kids wages at the time, so I spent more than a weeks wages on the trip up and the ticket. He sang the first song amongst the usual accompaniment of boys cheers and girls screams, which was the thing in the sixties. He faced the audience before the second song and warned if the noise continued he'd walk off. It did and he did. Sang on the same stage myself about 25 years later, as part of 500 voices.
