For me, Colin Jones.

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

Yes, that is a fantastic biography and one of the best I have read. Welsh should be remembered as one of Wales' greatest ever sportsmen but is little more than a footnote. Gallimore has done biographies on a couple of other boxers too.

There is also a Freddie Welsh biography by Gareth Harris that came out just before Gallimore's, which is a bit dry and like reading a text book at times, though I don't really mind that.

I’d never heard of the Harris book, mate. I’ll have to keep an eye out for it.

I have got a couple of titles by a Gareth Harris knocking about though, on the Ferndale and Maerdy disasters. I’m guessing it’s probably the same chap?

An idea isn't responsible for those who believe in it.

He has also written books on Wilde and Driscoll. He self publishes and I don't know how easy the books are to get hold of as all three came out over a decade ago.
I think he's a historian from Pontypridd, not specifically a boxing writer so may well be the same chap.

Ask him why do they call Pontys rugby ground the 'house of pain' ?, the rumour is because Glynneath used to beat them on their own patch by scores equivalent of 100-0 back in the day, first class, lol, they are having a laugh.

Continually being banned by Planet Swans for Porthcawl and then being reinstated.
