Any thoughts ?

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

Ah right ok so because you believe in the cause of the poppy appeal, you think thats ok to be a part of football, but a gesture that our players obviously feel they want to carry out isn't.

Pushed in your face!? Its a tiny period of time before kick off. Grow up and let them do it if they want to.

" Our players obviously feel they want to carry it out"

How do you know that?

The gesture has run its course, just like clapping the NHS.

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game

Because they continue to do it? If they didn't want to they wouldn't do it. Other clubs have chosen not to.

May have run it's course but I'd rather the players decide when they feel its right to end it.

I saw that picture on twitter, and many comments after saying 'race war'..

I think perhaps, they need to ramp it down immediately...

Interesting find, that prompted me to search for some background.

https://www.irishtimes.com/spo

The thing that caught my eye in the story was that the whole Eire team made the Nazi salute three years later in the return game in Germany. To quote the Irish Times: "Outspoken socialist, former interned Republican and Irish captain on that day, Jimmy Dunne, is said to have shouted down the line: “Remember Aughrim, Remember 1916!” as they raised their arm." I am reminded of what an American said to me in a Georgia bar when telling me about how Irish Republicans had helped the Nazis in WW2 - "f**k them for that".

‘German dignitaries raise their right hands at Dalymount Park as the Ireland team runs out’.

This was the wording used under that photo Loh.

The caption is wrong, the German delegation was up in the grandstand.

Those are members of Cumann na nGaedheal. That’s Ernest Blyth and Jimmy Hogan in the foreground.

Yes indeed, though not as some sort of endorsement. It was flown alongside the flags of Europe in 1938 to celebrate Munich and “peace in our time.”

That didn’t exactly pan out as Mayor Parnell had hoped it would...

I remember seeing a photo of the Queen of England when she was a young girl making a nazi salute.

How very odd to see a young girl do this, i always thought...?
Why would she even do that ?

At a guess, because she was only 7 years of age, and just copying her elders, could have just as well been the birdy song or agadoo for a child of that age, makes no odds.

Every company, charitable organisation, global movement, state body, religous group, poliitical group want free access to Premier league / Championship and thereby the media, Sky, BBC RT NBC to spread their particular meaasge prefereably for free. BLM rode the sympathy of the nation and even Swansea city naiively put BLM on it's facebook page with the Swansea players taking the knee. I suggested the BLM which is a political movemnt should have paid the club at least £50,000 for this free advertising.

The dim wits at the FA checked the details of BLM and changed track and now say taking the knee is not related to BLM and have superimosed some vague terminology to the knee gestures stolen off a Miss World contestant from the 1980s. Sorry its too late it is engrained in the public psyche reinforced with the image of the murder of George Floyd in the USA.

Now the vague aims of "taking the knee" have been turned back into 'black power' salutes by individual players when they score. Its an open house and outside the law of FIFA and UEFA rules. Once the poppy was allowed it was open house. I do not go to football to get 'messages' from dimwit footballers barely out of teenage years, demanding social change somewhere else, who are teated like royalty.
