The Bible and Quran are responsible directly for more genocide, more deaths, more family disputes, more hate than anything in our universe.

All wars have economic roots.I can't think of any in modern times that have been started for religious reasons

There's plenty of evidence that many recent wars have been fought under the banner of religion, to distinguish the enemy certainly in a civil war such as the recent balkans war then religion was used as a means of identifying the "enemy" an excuse to ethnic cleanse areas previously cohabitated .
The Iraq civil war was fought by opposing groups of shia sunni militia v Iraqi christians . Northern syria under turkish control has seen ethnic cleaning of kurds & christians . Even our own recent history of N I the lines were drawn between catholic v protestant with the protestant majority initially having the upper hand.
The figures for example of how one religious group (christians) are persecuted is that some 260 million world wide followers of that faith In some regions of the world the level and nature of persecution is arguably coming close to meeting the international definition of genocide. so not matter how you dress it up wars are often started based on religious beliefs and recent ones at that.

Most if not all religious books encourage wiping out those who do not believe .
In Christianity, however,it meant we went into Africa to convert the natives away from whatever they worshiped as it was wrong. Then we set about raping their country..
Our religion was better see.

Our missionaries have gallons of blood on their hands in the name of Jesus.

They were secular wars. Religion may have been used as a tool to propagandise the various sects, but the conflicts themselves were not fought because of religious differences.

Iraq was tribal, it's why Saddam ran the place with a rod of iron to keep them all inline.Iraq was a secular country

Afghanistan too has always been tribal as many countries have found out to their cost.

ISIS, is another organisation that has nothing to do with religion.

Moving away from the middle east, ww1, ww2, boer war, Russo Japanese war, there are so many to name in recent times, and none had any religious roots. They were all secular.

So people kill other people because they are a different religion and it has nothing to do with religion?
Iraq was tribal, yes the Sunni tribes versus the Shia tribes but nothing to do with religion. Hussein was a Sunni and most of the top jobs were held by Sunni's.

Afghanistan is 90% Sunni.

ISIS, the Islamic State....has nothing to do with religion?

Hitler may not have started the war because of religion but he used it to persecute millions. He was a baptised Catholic.

If not religion wars are for power and money.

I suppose next you'll be saying the Holy Crusades had nothing to do with religion, the European Christians just wanted some summer sun?

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Hitler disdained religion. He was baptised a catholic, but he had no say in that. The jews weren't persecuted because of their religious beliefs, neither were the homosexuals , trade unionists or gypsies

ISIS is all about power and control, they have the same aims as the British govt and many western nations, the removal of Assad. Isis was formed 2006 in Iraq by Al Zargawi, as a reaction to the invasion by the west, as was Al Quaeda it's forerunner nothing particularly religious about that

Afghanistan, Iraq are mostly muslims, but the west didn't invade because of religious beliefs.

The Vietnam war was about containing the alleged spread of communism, as communism was seen as a threat to capitalism and the big money.

The crusades, if you want to go that far were all about power control and pillage.

Yes religion is often used to stir the pot, but it's the misuse of religion that is the problem

All wars have economic roots, and that is often achieved through the exploitation of religion.

The problems in NI were secular. Britain was in NI, because of the shipbuilding and other industry and it's strategic importance. Loyalists wanted it to remain part of the Uk, republicans as part of Ireland. Nothing particularly religious there.

Once again it was the misuse of religion being used to stir up hatred. The real issues were control and power.

Really ? one community (catholic) which was subjugated by than another (protestant ) for far too long ,this creating the environment and need for a civil rights movement had nothing to do with religion .?

I don't think he's a troll , maybe trying to live up to his user name or just ill informed. But to say that for the examples provided had nothing to do with religion is disingenuous . Two white people trying to kill each such as a Serb v Croat , what distinguishes one from the other. Someone living in Bombay street Belfast in the late sixties who had to flee were identified by their religion not because of H&W shipyard

No, it wasn't religious as I have explained many times. They weren't fighting over theocracy. The loyalists were protestants and the republicans were Catholics, that's all. It was to do with republicans against loyalists. Yes, many used the religious bit to whip up feelings, but as i have explained, it's the misuse of religion not the religions themselves causing the problems Surely , you understand this? If you can't, then I really don't know where we can go on this discussion.

I'm happy to finish it , you seem very confused and I wouldn't want to increase that confusion , other than add that many catholics were quite happy to continue to live in the north under UK rule ,they wanted a just society which had singled them out as being less worthy of jobs, status and even a vote , if you can't grasp the significance of the role of a religion then al this is way over your head .

I didn't state that religion wasn't a part for some, it just wasn't the root cause. This is what you cannot grasp. Once again, it was the misuse of religion that was being used to stoke up resentment etc.It was a tool to do this and a distraction from what was really going on.You seem to be taking the card that the conjurer has given you.
