Yes he is and a recollection of Legal Aid (fraud) days makes one wince . Mainly detainees would only ever speak at an interview would be first timers.
The pros knew what to do without legal representation which is basically not to say anything that could harm their chances of coming up with a defence in Crown and giving it a spin to a confused ,overwhelmed and puzzled by it all jury. Why admit anything at all when there is a chicane of legal minutae to wade through.
Any Crown Court is a show and intimidates those not fully aware of the sheer theatre of it all . Police ,witnesses and indeed defendants are bit parts in the main show which is a joust between Learned "friends".

A lot of junior barristers cut their teeth and learn their trade in the Mags, I certainly did, as a solicitor.

They are a cross section of society, perhaps they are no more honest or corrupt than the next man.
There again they might initially have good intentions in most cases on entering the profession but then once there they say power corrupts (in some cases), so back to average. |  |

Completely agree, only problem is the bad ones in professions like the law have far more lasting and devastating effects than in some other jobs.

I always remember Gower farmers complaining.
My father's side had a farm in Llandysul and always complained. Not the most honest folk Ive ever seen. But it's a profession I was referring to and farming ,as a profession is inherently more honest that many.
