| Ryan Manning on 01:44 - Aug 22 by AndyCole | . Wilmot gave Cabango a masterclass, and was clearly a notch or three ahead of him when here. And is now a notch or five ahead. If Martin is yet to see Cabango's weaknesses in this system, it's worrying times given the fact that he's only now focusing on our defensive third. With pacey WBs ahead of him(Martinball) Cooper is by far the better all-round defensive option ahead of calamitous Cabango. Cooper will get the nod with Wales, Cabango was clearly outcast for good reason. Meantime Manning is rightfully ruling the roost. . . |
WIlmot played because he was on loan (as did Guehi for the first 6 months). Independent ratings are in favour of Cabango over Wilmot. Wlmot - per game tackles 0.6 blocks 0.5 clearances 2.9 dribbles 0.3 aerials 2 passing 75.7 career goals 3 assists 1 Cabango - per game tackles 1.3 blocks 0.4 clearances 4.8 dribbles 0.4 aerials 3.7 passing 75.1 career goals 6 assists 2 Overall rating Wilmot 6.53 Cabango 6.96 Where is the masterclass? A notch or two ahead!! This season ratings Wilmot - 7.05 Cabango 7.89 And to add to that Wilmot is valued at £2.25 million Cabango £6.3 million We averaged more clean sheet with Cabango was playing last season than when he was not and, separated for each other, more clean sheets than Bennett. Your attitude is typical of many fans - if he's from away and looks a bit like a Melchester Rovers star he must be better. (cf Mawson) Cabango was an absolute rock for us last season Manning has had 1 and 1/2 good games more of the good stuff to come but his discipline has to improve. He's Cooper is another who had a MOM performance but has also been left wanting - early days for him though. All three are the same age.

Cabango has been tested at a very high level. I was hugely impressed when at 20 he led a scratch Cymru defence to shut out Mexico 1-0. Mexico had not been beaten for some time and were 'up for it'. He can be very proud he played so well it illicited abusive posts from Mexico city. In true heroic style he brushed that off as well. When I saw the Welsh team and a strong Mexican 11 with Tom Lawrence and Johny Williams as wing backs I feared the worst. Young Ben had a torrid first 15 minutes but soon applied himself the the job in hand. He is one of my favourite players but needs to get jabbed.
