| Swansea City v Hull City : Expect to see brave and exciting football today on 17:50 - Sep 12 by Catullus | That's not what you were saying last season when we were getting results though? We said we wanted entertaining, we said we wanted possession and passing, not negative tripe. The results will take longer to come with all those changes being made but there has definitely been progress so why the complaints? As I pointed out, even the great Alex Ferguson with millions to spend took years to get results. WHy should we expect it from Russell Martin in a few weeks? It's unreasonable. |
This results taking a while to come thing is a myth.

Bob Bradley, Nick Cusack....it's happened. If we talk about previous managers, how many have have had such massive changes and such a short space of time to manage those changes? How many have lost both their leading scorers from the previous season? We've had one win so far but the improvement we saw yesterday was marked. If performances keepimproving the results should come too.

Both Cusack and Bradley were sacked quickly because they weren’t showing results, neither are examples of managers that struggled early before turning things around. They never turned us around, so using them as examples doesn’t fill the confidence bucket. Every single manager we have had since I started supporting us a quarter of a century ago, has not needed months and months to see acceptable results. Many of which have drastically changed the style and many of which had absolutely nothing to spend, or indeed very minimal. We have continuously lost our top scorers. From Torpey, to Trundle, to Scotland, to Sinclair, To Michu, to Bony, to McBurnie… we have always been able to adapt, and we always have. This year we have helped that transition by spending the most amount we have ever spent in a single football league season in our history, relegation from Premier League year aside. Sorry, but it’s a myth. [Post edited 13 Sep 2021 1:00]

" the epitome of a modern day football fan as a whole. Completely blind to the realities we face, wanting spending right left and centre, sat in 3rd in the Championship after finishing 6th last season and wanting the manager sacked. It’s short termism at its absolute ugliest. Nothing worth analysing in life is viewed in such short term scenarios. Our fans are the equivalent of winning £1000 on the lottery one week and then convincing themselves it’s a great idea... until someone points out to them in the last 5 years they have lost £10,000 on it. Over the course of the season we are 3rd. That takes into consideration all our great form patches, all our rubbish form patches and all our indifferent form patches. It’s encompasses everything, because all these things are part of football, especially championship football. Having a meltdown after every defeat and wanting to push the nuclear button with every poor performance must be very draining for people. I have a secret for them... every season it’s likely we won’t win half of our matches, often more. Strap yourself in. "

Why not ‘what’ now? I read that word for word and agreed with it all, which of course I would do given that I wrote it. Which part is confusing you?

Which part is hypocritical? The post you have quoted is me stating that we are 3rd because we deserve to be, and instead of pressing the nuclear button after a defeat understand we are 3rd because we have performed well in the season up to that point and view it through a wider lens than a single game. It’s the exact view I hold with any manager. We are 21st now because we deserve to be, my views aren’t formed from 1 game they are formed from the whole season up to this point. Again, which part is confusing you?
