Strange quotes to bring up.

Because although they didn't necessarily borrow money to buy their shares, they have now ladened the club with debt from an outsider who's charging interest.

Well are they are certainly loaning at zero risk. It's a certainly a no risk investment for them.

But in my view this in no way represents the club being at a higher level than what it was prior to their share purchase.

The U S owners had plans to expand the stadium and cash in on naming rights. Levien has a good record on doing this. First steps have already been taken in taking control of the stadium. The previous board could not have funded the expansion. This is now postponed as it was not viable outside the Premier league.

Silverstein hs joined the board and is not an outsider or a hedge funder. He intends to convert into shares within the 5 year CLN period. He has said this is his intention. If he follows through there will be no debt and no interest payable (depending on the terms of the deal).

There is no such thing as zero risk. Loaning money is never risk free. They have some assurances with regard to getting their money back. Football investment is super high risk. Ask the owners of Sunderland and Stoke.

Had the sale not gone ahead I believe the previous board would not have struggled to keep the club in the championship.

But I thought these owners according to your previous post have vast reserves of cash? I thought they were taking us to the next level? But they don't have the money to expand the stadium? Even though money has now been received from naming rights. Surely next level investors could find a way of funding it!?

He's certainly an outsider, nobody knows him from Adam nor what his actual role on the board is. Be honest you'd never heard him. He's a money lender as it stands.

In what scenario doesn't he get his money back? He's obviously close to the owners who know exactly what's on the books and which way the tide is turning. Don't try and pretend that if the club was going down the chute he wouldn't get prior warning and he'd get his money back.

What are you basing that on? Because the squad spend profile hasn't changed. The current owners haven't increased our income from elsewhere have they? Pearlman was pretty shambolic. Dineen even had to step in to secure one sponsorship deal. Recently now, another sellout has become a sponsor after years of an inability to find another. Not forgetting Huws intervention in their pathetic handling of the Dan James sale, without which the club would have 10mill odd worse off. We didn't get relegated or anywhere near it in the time in this division that Huw still had some influence. The loan was put into the club at a time when it was physically impossible for us to get relegated and even then we didn't spend that on fees. So struggling to see under what circumstances or when we'd have got relegated from this division had the sellouts still been calling the shots.

'Next level' is a myth. The US owners do have access much more cash than the previous owners which was highlighted at the time of the sale.

There were no guarantees of outcomes which depends on intense competition. Swansea is currently in the top 50 or so clubs not he top 23 where the big money is. I do not see it as a huge concern and a small profit of say £1-2m in the Championship is perhaps better than a £20m loss in the Premier league if the club is not actively up for sale. It is a business.

In Swansea s case it seems quite cyclical. The club at least seem to have a modern infrastructure and professional management set up.

They will not let the club go bust. Swansea have under Welsh ownership been there before harming local suppliers.

The US owners however do not want to do what Stoke and Sunderland did and give it anyway to footballers that do not deliver. Stoke's owners are owed in excess of £180m and finished well below Swansea last season.

I know Silverstein better than anyone in the Trust for example. He has presented himself and his objectives to me as a simple fan in a plain talking manner. He wants to be a long term investor help the club grow and eventually make a profit.

If Club share holders want to find a buyer for their shares Silverstein knows Levein and Kaplan are good friends to have. Kaplan's company buys and sell companies all the time.

Silverstein is not a lender. He is an investor. The loan was reported only as a tool to facilitate a rapid transfer of funds into the club.

The scenario where he does not get his loan back is where he uses the money to convert the loan into newly issued shares. This is the point of the CLN. While there remains an option to recover the cash and interest this is not the intention. Lenders do not normally get invited join boards of companies and make decisions except in exceptional circumstances as I understand it.

Silverstein could easily lose his money if Swansea fall down the leagues and get into financial trouble like so many clubs have before. Wigan most recently. If Swansea have no money in the club how will they pay the £5m plus interest back?. Jamal Lowe already went for a knock down price. Football is a highly risky business. It is never the intention to get into financial trouble. It still happens.

I do not use words like 'Sellout' its pejorative. I am grateful to the owners of Swansea.com for sponsoring the stadium. I respect those investing in and sponsoring the club.

Well further up the thread you described that we are currently at a next due to the sale, now you're saying it's a myth&we were all lied to?

Don't see the relevance of that paragraph.

How different is the management set up to under the previous regime? I dunno. Not really fussed unless the football club gets results, Which have deteriorated under this ownership.

Well if they won't let the club go bust and Silverstein knows this my point absolutely stands - 5mill plus interest is rock solid.

Not sure what you mean by next paragraph.

How do you know Silverstein better than anyone in the trust then? You always protest when people accuse you of being on insider on the Americans. This seems like an admission to me. The trust have seen his public words &spoken to him in behind the scenes meetings so that's very telling that you claim to know him better.

Well we know of at least one shareholder that is willing to part with shares under the right circumstances, which has been public knowledge for sometime, but Silverstein doesn't seem interested in them. Funny that.

As I say, proof is in the pudding. As it stands to our club he's a money lender. The loan injection was sometime ago, what's the hold up in conversion? I wonder if he'd converted if we'd got promoted!?

Right so as I say zero risk - there's no plausible scenario he doesn't get his money back.

You just stated yourself the club won't go bust so falling down the leagues makes no difference. As I've already stated if the books are starting to look bleak Silverstein is going to be at the front of the queue getting his loan out. Sell players? Borrow from a bank to pay him back, give some back and hike up the interest on the rest? As you say clubs operate on a loss.

Well I do use the term. It's entirely apt.

Did anyone actually use the phrase "Next level". If so please prove it. It is possible they did I have not seen it. What HJ said was the new owners have a much great access to capital in the form of investment money not commercial loans. This in 2016 notionally included expanding the stadium to match the local competition.

The CLN if converted will prove he was correct. The sellers were clear the buyers did not take over the club with debt and pay off their debt with club profits. (This happened at Burnley).

The CLN is not rock sold. It relies on trust that Kaplan and Levien will in some way cover the CLN if it is not converted. The 5% reported seems low to me but I am not a banker. The Burnley owners are reportedly paying 9% for their loan from Mr Dell.

Silverstein trusts Levien and Kaplan. Do you trust them 100% Chief? It sounds as if you do, if you consider their word "rock solid".

Mr Silverstein spoke directly to the fans in a pod cast. He explained his motivations and assured the fans of his plans and motivations. The Trust have not done this. I like what I heard from Silverstein. You have misinterpreted my post. I know the thoughts of Mr SIlverstein better than i know the thoughts of the Minor shareholder. I am a complete outsider.

I do not know any shareholder who has their shares up for sale.

The CLN has a 5 year term. This is Swansea city anything can happen. If Silverstein cuts and run the club will have to find the money somewhere. The assets bought partly with Silverstein' s money like Ntcham and Obafemi would have to be sold I suppose.

Luckily Swansea have responsible long term owners not the people that took over Wigan and Aston Villa a while back. The CLN is a statement of confidence and commitment to the club. it has a 5 year term. If Swansea goes into administration they will lose their money.

Swansea does not operate on losses. Stoke and Reading operate on loses. Swansea endeavours to break even. Notional profits in the past were used for infrastructure Fairwood, Morfa and maintenance. The club avoided profits, corporation tax and paying of dividends. Effectively the only way owners made money in Swansea City was by selling some of their shares.

Some share holders did not seen to understand they held a super high risk "growth stock" not an "income stock". Swansea city is for growth not income. Normal punters are not allowed to buy SCFC shares. Hedge fund investors can. Money for them is easy come easy go.

I am entirely happy with the US owners. I have no particular pro US sympathies. Thinking about it I do not know any US people. A few Canadians only. I have never been to the USA or the Americas.

They have made three mistakes they probably recognise.
a) Sacking Guidolin and bringing in Bob Bradley. (not as bad as projected).
b) Dan James negotiations with the Leeds wide boys.
c) The clubs dalliance with BLM without doing due diligence.

You've even referenced it yourself and used it so do your research. The Americans said when they came in said they had the "resources to make us competitive". And that was when we were a Premier league club. And none of that came to fruition, 5 years on.

Although it hasn't been converted.

Yes, although they have since added debt to the club.

Well I'm no banker either but the general consensus is that 5% is excessive.

I don't trust them no, I don't know them, they don't know me, so I have no reason to trust them. Silverstein however I assume they are more familiar with. Strange question.

The trust haven't done this!? Apart from publically available monthly updates and fans forums where they meet fans in public in person you mean? As well as readily available contact details. Silverstein gave 1 zoom interview from the other side of the world (when things were looking more rosy-he doesn't seem as keen to stick his head above the parapet with us in the bottom half) and yes he said words. Some words of which we now know to be lies. So why should we trust him? It's self testimony. I misinterpreted nothing - I addressed exactly what you typed. The cat is out of the bag. I noticed another poster the other day slipped up about being in a meeting with Pearlman and the Americans too after ages of denying having any relationship.

Well I know one shareholder who is going to great lengths to sell theirs! I'm sure you know who they are too.

Indeed, and he hasn't converted and until he does, there's always that possibility. And the further we slip away from the premier league, the less the possibility gets. At least with his loan he's guaranteed it back plus interest.

But we all know that Silverstein being in the inner circle will know earlier than most what state the club's in and he's going to be at the front of the queue early doors to get his cash out. The CLN is also a risk free investment garnering interest.

The CLN loan is considered by you a zero risk.

On what grounds is it even low risk?

It is low risk because the other owners have good levels of integrity. If the club hits very hard times Silverstein considers the other owners will most probably keep the club going and instruct it to honour its debts. It stands to reason you also believe this, if you consider the loan to be risk free. The exact terms of the CLN are not known so it is impossible to state that the loan is zero risk. Such deals do not exist unless Boris Yeltsin signed them.

Please state what 'lies' Silverstein has stated. I need to be made aware of this if true. Any luck on the "Next level" quotes?

Please provide evidence that 5% p.a. is excessive. The loan was taken at the height of the pandemic. I gave the Burnley 9% as a comparison.

I stray away for discussing minor shareholders these days. People that want to sell something usually put it up for sale and notify the market place of the items for sale. Timing is important as is market valuation.

Silverstein is in the 'inner circle' because he has put his own money where his mouth is. I respect him for that.

Silverstein trusts the majority owners to keep the club going if the club hits very hard times. Levien and Kaplan on the other hand trusts Silverstein to convert the loan into shares within the 5 year loan period. They have all an general understanding it is a de facto 'Investment' and use the word investment in public.

Because it's a loan to an entity in which people he must be very close to have inside and sensitive knowledge of. Specifically the club's finances. He can't lose, i imagine he'd be angry if the owners didn't give him a warning if the club was going under and that's not going to serve their future joint endevours well.

Have you had any luck on it? You yourself stated in this very thread that we're at the next level. Used that term by coincidence did you? I've given you the quote that the Americans gave.

In that zoom interview it was stated that they wanted to tie Cooper down to a new deal and also that discussions would start again with the trust to sort out the shareholding issue. Neither transpired.

I'm just going off testimony on here. Several posters stated it at the time. A comparison it may be, it doesn't mean the interest the swans are paying is insignificant. Just that it's even more extortionate.

Well you've strayed back into it discussing their strategy. The likes of Silverstein unless he walks around with his eyes closed should be eminently aware that the trust are potentially open to selling shares. Don't know why you'd allude he wouldn't be.

Well he's got other dealings with the owners too, so that's obviously how he got involved, yet it's still just a loan.

You presume. They could just be using that term in the same way various fans, journalists, broadcasters, and various others have disingenuously over the years. The confusion between buying shares and actually putting money into the club's accounts.

This could be equally vague, it's an investment alright, one that'll stand to make Silverstein 5%.

But it certainly sounds good in the media that he's 'invested in a football club' when in reality he's a money lender charging interest.

Because it's a loan to an entity in which people he must be very close to have inside and sensitive knowledge of. Specifically the club's finances. He can't lose, i imagine he'd be angry if the owners didn't give him a warning if the club was going under and that's not going to serve their future joint endevours well.

There is no such thing as a "cannot lose investment". If the club run their affair badly the club will not be in a position to pay back Silverstein his loan plus interest at the end of the 5 year period. It is a risk. The club could play hard ball and refuse to pay and go to court to buy time.

Stoke city did not intend to be in the championship with £186m debt to its owners. The club at this moment have no chance of paying it back. Peter Etebo, Saido Berhinio, Jese Rodrigez, Kevin Wimmer, Gianelli Imbrulala seemed like great signings. Bet 365 had an "inside track" but that did not help them.

I used to work for a company that wanted all its staff to be focused on selling. I went of sales courses. it is not easy to sell. You have to be determined and persistent and use persuasion as far as I could see. It needed skills. A knack a penchant charm etc.

A seller stating "we are potentially open" to selling is of little interest to a buyer.

In reality it's just a loan. If he's want it back, he'll get it. Stop being so deliberately naive. The club is run by his mates and business partners in other ventures. We can safely say they'll look after their mate.

Well that's a very silly and sheltered buyer then. Huw and the other sellouts didn't advertise their shares for sale anywhere did they?

"I know Silverstein better than anyone in the Trust for example".

Bookmarked.

I am an outsider. I meant to articulate the following.

I know more about Silverstein and his objectives than I know about the Trust's leadership and their objectives.
