| Nathan Jones gives his opinion on why Luton threw away a home win against Swanse on 14:50 - Sep 19 by Dr_Parnassus | Yep. We were clearly more direct:- Long balls:- vs Preston:- 46 vs Hull:- 29 vs Millwall:- 49 …………………………… vs Luton:- 65 I would bet anything the majority of which came in the second half. If anyone has the details feel free to put forward. The other game this season we clearly went direct in, is our only league win of the season. vs Bristol City:- 66 Coincidence eh? Lol. Bueno. Massive fail yet again chap. Long ball stats, without context, are not indicators of playing more directly. A long ball could be a diagonal to switch the play, a ball played from one wide centre-back to another, from one wing-back to another, from an attacker to a defender, etc. Those are far from direct, quite the opposite in fact. They are not standalone figures that signify directness in attack. But just for proper context ––––––––––––––––– Long balls - Blackburn - 45/72 – (63%) Reading - 32/56 – (57%) Sheffield - 25/52 – (48%) Stoke - 28/52 – (54%) Bristol - 30/66 – (45%) Plymouth - 18/31 – (58%) Preston - 24/56 – (43%) Hull - 13/29 – (45%) Millwall - 22/49 – (45%) Luton - 30/65 – (46%) –––––––––––––––– Luton match - Long balls 1st half - 13/31 – (42%) 2nd half - 17/34 – (50%) Possession 1st half - 70% 2nd half - 76% Passes 1st half - 201/251 – (80%) 2nd half - 226/274 – (82%) Clearances 1st half - 3 2nd half - 4 Overall 1st half - 0 goals, 2 shots, 0 on target 2nd half - 3 goals, 13 shots, 3 on target, 1 hit woodwork, 4 big chances missed ––––––––––––––––––––––––––– Massive fail, coincidentally more “skewed narratives” and stats, eh? What was that about “mythbusting” again? | | | |
