The first paragraph reads very much as shut up and do as you're told. Von der Leyen's words are much better but in the end what should matter? Surely that would be the wishes of the Polish people?
If the Poles want to 'remain' then at the next election vote in Don Tusk's party, if they want to leave then re-elect PIS. A Polish court has already rules some aspects of a treaty are incompatible with Polish law so what next? Will the Polish government change tack, buckle under or will they continue to push and maybe trigger 'Polexit'? |  |

A further escalation on the Polish Belarus border. The EU has threatened new sanctions and Belarus had threatened to stop supplies of Russian natural gas by closing the pipeline between Russia and the EU which passes through Belarus.

The only way Belarus will stop the gas is if Putin gives it the green light, something Putin might just unofficially do to get Nordstrom 2 through. If Belarus turns the gas off without Putin’s nod, then their president can expect to see himself being deposed. [Post edited 12 Nov 2021 21:28]
