Another one.
This time not guilty of murder but but of allowing or causing the death.
Justice eh

If people dont want a kid then plenty of agencies to adopt it.

Thanks
My first reply,in regards to your point about knowing a barrister,is that you say they wouldnt open up to a copper.Same applies.
Why is it that barristers deliberately seek to demean, belittle, confuse or intimidate prosecution witnesses.Apart from career criminals,ALL are intimidated by the Court itself . It is a circus complete with costumes of finery. It is arcane to all but the inner circle.

Arresting somebody for whom you felt sorry for means they will be treated well and ,as I have done, been advised as to what to expect and how to deal . If you think ALL coppers are trash, liars,BStters or simple scum then think again. I never liked being called a liar purely to unsettle me;you know it is a part of the process of wearing down police officers hoping they will say something barristers can use to use against them.

It's why I advised all my troops never to use more words than necessary and not to be afraid of silence.Silence makes people uncomfortable .Barristers are very adroit ,clever and articulate but so are many police officers. You will always get a clash in tjose circumstances.

If accused of a crime I was innocent of of course Id want legal representation but not to the extent that saw somebody pilloried and humiliated.

Fact is far more guilty walk free than innocent found guilty.

Initially I questioned how barristers felt when they protect such evil people. You present your case well but I am not convinced. As intelligent men/women,you have a choice. I left Police well before my time out of choice as I dint like what I saw . It has come to fruition too and I am so glad I went self employed .

One day, we'll meet up. Maybe we could hire a small venue and sell tickets. May the Great Architect sustain you.

Merry bluddy Christmas my learned friend.

Re barristers demeaning, etc.

This depends on the barrister, I was prosecuting a DV case a couple of months ago in Stoke, very nasty case and the defence barrister did exactly that. Made the victim burst into tears many times. Jury hated her, was a terrible tactic to take. Any barrister with an ounce of sense would not do that with a witness who was very vulnerable, You lose the case instantly. Instead you gently prod, pointing out discrepancies, whist putting your case to them. That's what my tactic would have been.

However, there are cases where you do need to be more forceful and aggressive to a prosecution witness. Would you criticise a prosecution barrister was being forceful to a defendant ?

I am not in any way saying ACAB , It would be unfair but in exactly the same way as your global attack on barristers. It is a fact that there are some dodgy police be it lazy, or corrupt, or just not doing their job properly . Police, certainly the younger ones, need training in what to expect in court, with someone like me who could do mock trials with them. The way in which some officers give evidence in court is shocking. Again though, if as a defence barrister, we are instructed that the officer is lying, that is what we must put to them,

'If accused of a crime I was innocent of of course Id want legal representation but not to the extent that saw somebody pilloried and humiliated.' --- you say that, but if the witnesses were lying, trying to set you up, even a police officer, wouldn't you want me to pillory and humiliate them, in other words, discredit them ?

Fact is far more guilty walk free than innocent found guilty......of course, and this must be right. It is far better that 10 guilty walk free than 1 innocent person has a life destroyed

You may not be convinced, but I am talking about my personal experience, and that of people I have seen breakdown and leave the profession due to stress,

Hope you have a lovely Christmas, always prefer to chat to someone who disagrees with me.

Take care
