| Australian Open Matchday (fortnight) Thread 21:30 - Jan 16 with 3469 views | Dr_Parnassus | Winner: Djokovic officially now ruled out of the tournament opening the door for both Medvedev and Zverev to pick up the title. Outside of those two, it looks tough to make a case for anyone else. Ones to watch: Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz. Both Sinner and Alcaraz have won the Next Gen tournaments in recent years but couldn’t be more opposite. Sinner as the skinny Italian with perfect technique and Alcaraz the strong as an ox Rafa clone. Both could go deep in the tournament. Long shot: Aslan Karatsev. One off the Russian production line but with some Spanish influences in his game. The Russian game has been based on power in recent years but Karatsev mixes power with insane angle and touch, has a very tough draw facing Jaume Munar in the first round who is another of the Next Gen crop but Karatsev is another will all the tools to go far, draw permitting. Winner: For the women’s side, everything points to Ash Barty but is certainly more open than the men’s side outside of her. Ones to watch: Barbora Krejcikova and Paula Badosa. The recent Sydney Final and one of the highest quality women’s matches I have seen for some time. Two contrasting styles, both could have felt hard done by not winning it. Badosa has nerves of steel and a great record in pressure matches, 3 from 3 in Finals. Long shot: Clara Tauson. Her draw is far too difficult to go far, looks like she runs into Kontaveit very early but she can certainly spring a shock. - edit to add that the above could be majorly affected by Covid. As soon as someone tests positive then they are out of the tournament. Could potentially be carnage of covid does creep into the tournament. [Post edited 17 Jan 2022 6:45]

As predicted Tauson has now met Kontaveit and in the process of potentially springing that shock as stated. Karatsev, Sinner, Krejcikova and Badosa all looking like they will have a great tournament and all listed players can now be layed for a profit. [Post edited 20 Jan 2022 1:08]

| Australian Open Matchday (fortnight) Thread on 14:19 - Feb 2 by Dr_Parnassus | Bet on them? Read the OP they were ones to watch and long shots, I specifically said they probably won’t win. But ones to back and lay as the tournament goes on. They all shortened in price, most of them significantly allowing a profit to be made on every single name I mentioned. Remarkable really. If you are going to troll then reading would help. |
Don't tell me, you didn't lay Nadal ? and luckily dodged that bullet on the exchanges.

I’m very negative about our chances of winning the league too, I’ve not laid us either. Not lucky in the slightest.

So which lost opportunity are you talking about? Laying Swansea at 500-1 or Nadal at 11-1? Neither look a fantastic opportunity do they. I am amazed you think that everyone lays every selection of every sport they don’t think will win at massive odds. You are wonderful Tramps. Mad as a box of frogs but wonderful. I’m just about to lay Norwich for the Premier League at 25,000/1. Can’t be missing out on such a wonderful opportunity.

Yes exactly Nadal 11-1, you made it sound like it was printing money to lay him, but he won the title, the fact that Nadal won was a bit of a miscalculation there by you.

| Australian Open Matchday (fortnight) Thread on 16:52 - Feb 2 by Dr_Parnassus | How did I make it sound like it was printing money to lay him? I didn’t mention him in any of my summaries, price was about right for a player on the verge of retirement. Early double figures in price, not completely out of the question but unlikely. I was asked if I think Nadal will win it, I said “I don’t see it personally”. That isn’t making it sound like it was printing money. There are 60 players I couldn’t see winning the title and would have given the same answer if I was asked. Reckon I would have laid all 60? At one point, Nadal was 33-1 to win it. The world agreed with me. You also still don’t seem to understand odds. Being 11-1 doesn’t mean you can’t win, it means if you play that tournament 11 times in a row then you probably win it once. This was his one time, that’s not a miscalculation. You are funny [Post edited 2 Feb 2022 16:57]

Your game Dr P is to say a fancied selection should win, if the selection doesn't win you say it should have won because it was the fancied selection, you claim everyone agrees with you hence why it was the favourite, you claim you was right to say it should have won even though it lost. You know the price of everything but the value of nothing. You think that the odds are sacrosanct and if the outcome isn't as per the odds then that outcome should not have happened or was a one off, or a 1 in 11 occurrence when of course it might not be a 1 in 11 occurrence the odds are not the real chance of an outcome but you think they are. As you can see I have got your number, I know how you operate and what your excuses you always use, the odds say such and such and you agree with the odds and if the selection proves to be wrong you claim it shouldn't have happened because the odds said otherwise even if the odds were wrong. I know your game

So are you suggesting I thought multiple players from each side were going to win, even though only one can win? That’s an interesting concept Tramps, mad as a hatter, but interesting none the less. Your game tramps is to read excellently put together previews from someone who knows infinitely more about a sport than you can ever dream of. Wait until it’s over and then go over it word for word and see if a prediction didn’t win, and then troll it to death regardless of if the summary was highly profitable or not. It doesn’t take a genius to pick a winner after they have won, a toddler could do that. Like I said, send any commission my way next time because we all know you used my knowledge to profit, but that bitter wave inside you can’t help from spilling over. That’s what trolls do.

Thank you very much, although I wouldn’t call him an egomaniac. Just a bit like yourself really, a bit of a troll that can’t handle anyone being remotely successful at what they do. Sadly for you I’m troll proof

You thought by naming multiple players that you bound to get the winner but it didn't happen with Nadal winning.

Don’t be so silly. I named ones to watch and long shots, specifically stating they won’t win but ones to watch to unexpectedly go far, which of course they did. You are just bitter because while you didn’t have the balls to give an opinion, I ended up with the winner in one side and the finalist in the other. You are welcome.
