I thought he had a 4 year contract from Jan 2018. I could be wrong.
| Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

| Giggs trial put back to August on 16:14 - Jan 18 with 420 views | Flynnidine_Zidownes | I’m not referring to Giggs here but imagine waiting for a trial that’s been pushed back and back when you know you’re innocent it must be a horrible situation to be in. It’s one of the better amendments in the US constitution that people should have a swift trial. Perhaps they need to bring in something similar here. | | | |

There is a limit in some cases, people held on remand in prison should have their cases heard in 8 months or I believe they can make an application for bail (maybe Sir John can confirm), pre-pandemic it was 6 months. Over the last 11/12 years the Courts, Police and CPS have suffered significant cuts and numerous Courts have closed.

There was a limit, (custody time limit or ctl) it depended on the type of case, so more serious cases were longer. However this has more or less been scrapped since covid, so if your ctls are up and the court cannot accommodate your trial due to lack of court rooms, it just gets extended. I had a chap last year who’d been on remand for two years but he was acquitted after trial. That’s the equivalent of a 4 year sentence. No compensation, job lost, house lost etc. I was in Leicester today, 6 hour round trip for a trial, another in custody. Court forgot to book an interpreter. Trial gone off to May, client in custody. I more or less made a loss today as mileage, parking is all taken as part of the fee. Set off at 6,30 this morning, got home around 7. So you can see the likes of Giggs, will be well down the list, plus it’s likely his original barrister won’t be free to do his trial. Not so bad if private payer, but if it’s legal aid and you spend hours prepping a case for trial which gets taken out of the list and stuck in another day which you cannot do, you get paid nothing. 96% of our members have just voted to strike. We’re fed up off court being shut, not enough judges, not enough barristers, doing countless hours of work for nothing, working in court rooms that are falling apart. Now magistrates being allowed to give 12 months prison. All that will happen is that’s they’ll be advised not to enter a plea, elect crown court, and plead there. Making the backlog worse. I’d not want a client of mine to be sentenced for a serious offence by magistrates
