Looking to return to winning ways following their defeat against Ipswich Town earlier in the month, the Bluebirds are set to host the Swans at Leckwith for their second U23 PDL meeting of the season.
Last time out against Tuesday's opponents, City came away the victors following an impressive performance away from home, in November 2021.
The Bluebirds began on top and opened the scoring inside the opening three minutes. Right-back Jai Semenyo charged forward, before unleashing a powerful strike from just outside the area that couldn’t be stopped.
Despite City’s attacking pressure, the home team managed to get an equaliser after 12 minutes. Lincoln McFayden found the net at close range.
Cardiff City remained composed and went on to take the lead once more, one minute prior to the half hour mark. Forward Zimba met midfielder King’s floated cross, powering a header home.
The Bluebirds performed determinedly in hunt of a third goal and it came just five minutes later. Forward Isaak Davies found himself one-on-one with goalkeeper Webb and made no mistake in increasing his side’s advantage to two goals.
Securing another three points away from home, City had extended their winning start to the campaign to eight consecutive victories.

Cardiff u23 applied a fierce high press in an earlier game I saw. From what I could see it was practically impossible to get around it in the first 10 mins for inexperience pros like Butler and Jacob Jones without a chip over the top. There has to be some sense in playing out from the back early especially when energy level are high. |  |

Playing really well. Cotterill looking comfortable in the Downes role. Thomas a threat, quick enough when he gets up to speed to beat his man, and has put some quality balls in.
Not quite clicked for Congreve and Lloyd yet but they're in the right areas. A few nearly moments for Forrester where passes to him have been overhit. | | | |

With the team Cardiff put out I hope every swans player gets a lovely rest day tomorrow. Fantastic result no matter the penalty miss, will definitely feel like a major opportunity lost to the Cardiff players and manager.

I was impressed with Rushesha who seemed to be in charge of the defence. A lovely passer. His problem is that he has not grown much and is quite short. Cameron Evans has beefed up the defence.
Swansea u23 were much better than the same game last year in the midst of the lock down. Forrester has to make a decision. He is far too nice. Big and strong but not using his physical advantages. Should have had a hat trick but did not challenge for 50 :50 and is not good enough to coast as he did in the second half. | |
