Regardless of the reasoning behind it the decision will embarrass the player. Despite certain news outlets reporting the reasons for Finley Burns being subbed off at half time yesterday, it hasn’t been explained by Russell Martin. Directly that is.  2

Russ is very articulate.
Personally though could not care a jot if he could not string a sentence together.

In fact I would suggest ALL fans now see the light and the serious situation we have with him at the club.He has and will ruin players. Burns will be another.

I would imagine in his perfect system , the outside central defenders need to be pretty quick to cover the high wing backs when the roam up the pitch. So why sign players that have little pace for that role. When we play against genuine pace like yesterday, we get exposed so badly. Burns, Bennett and Cabango are traditional back four central defenders and players like Manning and Naughton have a little more success in our current system because they are more mobile with both being full backs all their careers.
Even though Burns was getting exposed yesterday, I still think you don't take the kid off at half time. You just going to knock the kids confidence. Russell should have tweaked the system a little and made sure Christie was bit deeper to help support the kid. Burns could have grown into the game second half, but we will never know. |  |

Agree 100%.
I do not think premier league managers will in future be so keen to loan to us. We did develop players like Gallagher and Guehi but Martin is different
I feel for Burns .
