Try again, the cause was the attempted expansion by Germany's leader Kaiser Wilhelm who's policy of Weltpolitik was aimed at replicating the British Empire and an example of this was the 1905 crisis in Morocco when Germany attempted to undermine French control of the country. The start of the war was triggerd by the assassination of Arch Duke Ferdinand so your explanation is incorrect . I suggest you read John Keeghan's (Senior lecturer at RAS ) book "The First World War" which clearly explains the root causes leading up to 1914
